This is a brilliant technique for removing the hub assembly. I learned this trick from a heavy truck tech at Six States distributors that only does axles all day every day. It's invaluable for removing these! They get STUCK! And this trick works great! I also use it on Astrovans too.

Great tip. Could you do a similar video on how to remove stubborn rear brake drums from a 4th generation (2001-2007) Dodge Caravan? I spent 3 hours beating one with a hammer just to remove it, luckily for the customer I didn't charge for the extra time.

Also for all those finger fretters- you can leave the socket on the bolt and the extension in the socket to hold it in place without your hand being in there. It also enables you to do it with just yourself.

Lisle makes a couple of air hammer bits that fit over the head of the bolt and hammer on the flange to loosen dodge hubs. With a decent air hammer I've never had a problem, and then its a one man job.

Thats a great tip.It definitely makes it easier.I like the fact that you don't have to beat the rotor and put allot of unnecessary pressure on the bearing so you can reuse it.

Oh, and btw, why are you removing the bearing to replace the rotor? You can remove the rotor separately ( and relatively easily) without ever touching the bearing.

@IAmMoparNut I have this problem right now and the rotor won't come apart from the bearing it gets stuck on there real good. I can't get mine separated from it.

How hard do I have to turn the steering wheel? Nothing's budging on my truck so far. I'm turning hard enough that I can hear the power steering pump whine...

When you put it back on, make sure you coat the mating surfaces with never-seize so you don't have trouble removing it the next time!

Looks like a good way to screw up a 1/2 in. extension. I'm not sure, but I think Snap-On makes a tool designed specifically for this.

@DAQUAN88 You're missing the whole point of this vid, buddy. They're showing how to do it easily without extra tools.

This worked perfectly. Power steering pump didn't even seem to strain. A chunk of brass and bfh did nothing.
