Cummins 48re Automatic Transmission 1 to 2 Shift Problems Test Drive
I'm test driving my truck varifying the 1 to 2 shuttle shift problem. All Dodge 2500, 3500 48re automatic transmissions exhibit these symptoms after about 50000 ...
My 2005 wants to take off while in gear, when i put it in neutral the rpm's
jump and then settle, also, while in gear with brake depressed and pressing
the accelerator there is no change in the rpm's (stays at idle). So, is it
the torque converter, throttle position or ????
A built 48re will eat an Allison all day. Allison's shift slow and are
expensive to work on.
114k on a stock 48re is pretty good. I'm at 70K with my 05' and its toast.
The big three all have problems, hard to say that one is better than the
other.
I don`t see any problems. The only thing I remember having an issue with
was the Line pressure actuators on top of the throttle valve assembly on
the trans. if and when those hang up it can cause the issue you describe!
And it`s CUMMINS there is no G in CUMMINS! The 48RE is rock solid behind
the CUMMINS.
