2 questions: Can I put some rubbing alcohol in a mini spray bottle to spray
down a public toilet? What if someone was smoking in the next stall? Don't
want to cause a fire or injury. Also, does rubbing alcohol eat away at
surfaces? If so, which surfaces does the rubbing alcohol damage or "eat
away" over time? I also noticed Melissa spray the car window with alcohol.
If the rubbing alcohol were to get on the paint would it do damage? I can't
imagine someone with an expensive car getting rubbing alcohol on the paint.
Not being contrary. These are my questions. Thanks!
Answers are appreciated~
+amie Public Toilets. Don't worry, the dillution is far too much to be flamable. A better way to handle the problem is to buy a pack of disinfecting cleaning sheets. Something like: //smile.amazon.com/Clorox-Disinfecting-Wipes-Value-Scented/dp/B00FKIEQUC/ref=sr_1_27?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1440970333&sr=1-27&keywords=disinfecting+cleaning+wipesCheck for other brands and such. Weigh the frugality of making your own spray bottle against the convience of not having it run all over the place as you carry it around. And what if the toilet has no paper towels? What a mess using TP. ;-)Disolve surfaces: Be careful of plastics and use a good dillution. Most commercial deicers contain Methyl alcohol. It is not harmful to the cars paint job IF it is diluted and the paint is properly waxed. Note that the dilution of what you buy is down to 70%. The advice is then to further dilute THAT to 16% (1 part to 5 parts water) giving you a final dilution of .7*.16=.11.6% alcohol. AND the advice is further to wipe it off and let it dry. This will NOT be a problem.Another way of preventing ice build up is to wax the glass. That is what Rain-X is ... just liquid wax that you spray on and buff off. You can use that or simply put on some Pledge or something you have laying around and buff it off. The ice won't stick so well to the wax coating.A final way to combat ice is to get one of those canvas covers with the magnetic strips on the end and cover the windshield at night. In the morning, just peal it off and away you go. None of this helps with clearing the driveway, I'm sorry to say. ;-)
love your videos so much. one request, I get very confused when I try to
buy these stuffs like rubbing alcohol, cleaning vinegar etc here in paris
(everything is in french), it comes in different names. can you break it
down for me what should I look for in the back label and if bleach works
the same way as vinegar does (they dont sell cleaning vinegar here). thank
you.
Thank you for your reply, great help. I recently brought a book called "le menage ecologique" which basically explain all the eco-friendly cleaning products similar to all the DIY cleaning products tutorial on youtube, only that it's written in french terms is very helpful for someone like me who is based in paris and having to find all the tools and products here.
+Jakrit Muangkiaw Rubbing alcohol is isopropyl alcohol at a 70% concentration. Commonly found it a pharmacy (apothecary?) to be used for wound cleaning. (Note, most alcohols will kill germs, but rubbing alcohol is cheap in the U.S. because of our insane tax laws. You can't drink isoprophyl so it is not taxed as a beverage.)Vinegar (White or Clear vinegar) is Acetic Acid (C2H4O2). It is made from fermenting fruit). It is available in most grocery stores. The NOT clear version is salad dressing, usually made from fermented wine or apples. Vinegar is not used for disinfecting, as are bleach and alcohol … rather it is used to cut grease (not quite as good as ammonia for that use) and for dissolving mineral deposits (salts from dried water).Bleach is Sodium Hypochlorite (NaHCl2). The dilution in the bottle is about 6% and the recommended dilution to make a disinfecting solution is between 1:10 or 1:100 of what you get in the bottle you buy. As you can see, the final strength is as little as .06%. It is pretty strong stuff. Very dangerous as well, if mixed with a base such as ammonia. That combination makes something close to what, in WWI, was called Mustard Gas.While I'm at it ;-) the formula for ammonia is NH3, a gas. What you are actually buying is Ammonium Hydroxide, which is Ammonia gas dissolved in water and is NH4OH. This is the really dangerous stuff. ALWAYS use in a WELL VENTILLATED AREA. NEVER EVER let it combine with other cleaning products, especially bases like amonia.Just to clarify a confusion I think you have, bleach and vinegar are NOT used for the same thing. Vinegar is for CLEANING and Bleach is used to kill germs. Don't use bleach to clean things. The best outcome is that you'll ruin your clothing. ;-) After you are finished cleaning and want to sterilize and kill germs, THEN wipe it with bleach.Note 1: On these chemical formulas, you might have to do some Google research if you positively need them. Since I took chemistry, people have started changing the way they write chemical formulas. Example: Bleachis NaHCl2 but is now written as something like NaOCL it works out to the same thing if you look at the entire equation of the water solution, but it looks different. Just a word so you don't get too confused trying to talk to a pharmacist or chemist.Note 2: There is a cleaning guru, Don Aslett, who wrote several books on home cleaning and organizing. It is his contention that one should ditch ALL commercial products and use ONLY THREE things for cleaning:- Ammonia.- Vinegar.- Bleach.Personally, I'd add Baking Soda (sodium bicarbonate NaHCO3) to that list. It is good for its abrasive properties (but not TOO abrasive) and it is easily disposed of by flushing with vinegar.
i love using rubbing alcohol to clean....and have in small spray bottles
at numerous places thru out the house ever since i learned that
disinfecting gels are not good for frequent use.
i use the 70% that i buy at the drug store. should i be diluting it? what %
is adequate to kill germs? there is also 99% which is much most costly.
please advise. thanks...
+Reincarnation I don't exactly get that. Disinfecting gels ARE alcohol. Check the label. But to answer your question, buy 70% and dillute it about 1:1 with water. It all depends on where you are going to use it.
Rubbing alcohol is also good for cleaning your flat screen tv and really
removing finger prints and dust, just remember to spray the cloth and not
the screen itself.
I wouldn't recommend this. I did this for my ash catcher and now I have
salt stuck to the bottem of it. Won't come out no matter how much water
goes thru it. Leaves a VERY bad taste for a bong toke. -.-
Yeah, I've been doing this for almost a month now. It's clean and clear now but you can still see little dots layered on the bottem and bottem sides. I dont think its resin either.
apparently you missed my point, JUAN. you can get bongs pipes ect. of higher qualtiy at a price everyone can afford. roor as used as an example before, over prices the fuck out of their glass for what their offering. you can find a local artist with talent who will sell you a bong for 100 or less. and it wont be fucking garbage with rubber on glass connection and ugly fucking colors. you can even get a grab labs bong for 80 bucks and they smoke just as good as roor
When did I say Roor was the only glass company? I simply listed an example of one brand. The point is not everyone can afford (or wants) to dish out that kind of money just for a bong when they can get one that works perfectly fine for like 50 bucks.
+Onceyouveheardjuan you'veheardjamal roor isnt the only high quality glass company. there's thousands of good arists that dont produce garbage like seen above.
Well not everyone can afford to spend 200-300 on a Roor.
How To: Clean A Bong/Pipe/Oil Rig With "Alcohol & Salt"
(18 & Older Medical Marijuana Channel) Hope you guys enjoy this last minute tutorial video I decided to throw up!! Hope this video helps anyone who comes ...

Oil rig I use just ISO.. no salt.. I use the same ISO everytime I clean and
when its dirty as fuck I evaporate the ISO and use the left over oil to
season new ti nails....
+lasoogneypubes How long were you trying for? Did the alcohol turn that gross brown/black color? If your bong is really dirty, it might take a few tries to actually see a difference in the glass.
Do you have any tips or a good routine for keeping floors clean whenever
you have all hard floors.... like bamboo, tile... and several small
children.... I really dislike all hard floors due to the fact that they
are NEVER clean... I have to clean them all at once or else one room just
tracks to another.... AHHHH.... with 6 little ones if feels impossible...
and a constant defeat and discomfort. Nothing worse than stepping on crud
all the time.... HOUSE SLIPPERS! Imagine every meal and snack from
kitchen.... to everywhere.... 6 little trackers to dirty all floors...
would appreciate suggestions! I have thought of getting a smaller inside
dog... :)
Just bought a house with hard wood floors. One has a perfume like smell I
want to get rid of. The floor itself is beautiful though... but hate the
smell. Will 91% proof alcohol get rid of the smell, which I think is from
wax? If so, how should I do this? Want to do this before moving in --
thanks!
You could - although I got a message from someone who installs floors
saying how bad this was for floors. I have NEVER had bad results from it
and it has not ruined my floor, however you may want to check with your
floor manufacturer just to be sure. This trick has always worked very well
for me.
It just means you can scale it up or down as much as you need. So, for a
2:1 mix of water to vinegar let's say, you would require 2 cups of water to
one cup of vinegar. Or, if you needed a smaller mix, two tablespoons of
water to one tablespoon of vinegar. I hope that helps.
hi melissa. i have got strand woven bamboo floors at my place covered with
cloudy stick mist & gunk. how do i get rid of it and get the shine back
please advise. thanks in advance
I just moved in to a new apartment, and since my restroom floor is wooden
floor, I had no idea how to wash it. till I watch this video you're a life
saver lol, Thank you!
Alcohol does disinfect but only with enough contact time. If it evaporates
quickly, then it probably isn't killing much, if anything. It may have
other benefits though.
Could you mop the floors with it? like, if you got enough of it?
Do not clean Plexi glass or Acrylic with alcohol.
Alcohol will cause cracks and fissures in acrylic. Do not use it for cleaning. I learned a good lesson when I cleaned my round aquarium with it. A nice flood in my ...
I cracked two plastic drinking glasses recently by putting bourbon in them.
One of them I didn't notice had cracked until after it had been washed and
put away. I didn't understand why it was cracked because it hadn't been
dropped or anything. The second one I poured some bourbon into and then
forgot about it but when I reached for it my sleeve got wet and I noticed
the bourbon was all over the desk and the glass had multiple cracks in it.
So don't drink strong alcoholic beverages from plastic glasses.
Nice to know after cleaning my performance LED tail lights today, the
entire tail lights started making cracking sounds and shattered in to
pieces:( I used 90% alcohol solution from the drug store. I don't think
many people know this but I've learned something today about plastics from
this video, thanks for posting it up.
@sdgsdf45 I think its fine to use Plexiglas, I am actually preparing to
make another one in the shape of a triangle. Two sides and the bottom would
be made of wood covered with a liner (cover for the wood) and the front
would be a slightly curved 4'x2' sheet of Plexiglas.
They should place warnings on Acrylic products.... just learned this the
hard way with some mystery cracks that showed up in these LED lens.... last
time I ever use a solvent on a surface without checking a chemical
compatibility chart.
totally true. I just experienced it myself after degreasing my acrylic in
100% isopropanol. Acrylic has limited alcohol resistance even at 15%
alcohol, and totally not resistant above 65% alcohol.
@m3harri it's the alcohol, I used 99.9% Alcohol in this video. I think the
alcohol seeps in the micro fissures, evaporates and cause more
cracks...till the hole thing breaks.
