Tornado Videos - April 27, 2011 Cullman, Alabama F4 Tornado
One of the best views of a tornado from the super outbreak of April 27, 2011. This video shows the tornado as it tracks through the small town of Cullman, ...
That was some of the best footage I've seen. You got a real close shot of
the tornado as it was completely obliterating homes and businesses, I am
not say that's good but from a chasers standpoint it was pretty decent.
Most people on here talking trash because it wasn't some monster like the
Tuscaloosa or Hackleburg tornado don't realize that even the tiniest rope
tornadoes can tear you a new one.
+Kevin Matanich Actually, this tornado was an EF4. And that was during it's time passing through the city of Cullman. It was a very strange tornado, in that it DOWNSIZED while passing through Cullman, yet it remained VERY powerful and moved through very quickly. You look at all the videos of the damage, both on the ground AND aerial footage. It took the extreme power of an EF4 to obliterate all those large block & brick buildings, and homes. Also, this tornado got MUCH bigger after it left Cullman, where it is mostly countryside with very few buildings & homes compared to Tuscaloosa. Yes, the Tuscaloosa tornado was indeed bigger, but Cullman was EXTREMELY lucky ( to be so unlucky ) that the funnel shrank in size while in town........had it hit Cullman when it was at its biggest ( after leaving Cullman ), it would have destroyed 3 to 4 times as much as it did. Watch the many videos of the Cullman tornado as it was traveling East/North East through the countryside after leaving Cullman, heading towards Arab Alabama........it became enormous. My entire family has been living in Cullman, Guntersville & the surrounding areas for many generations. I plan on moving back to Guntersville to stay someday.
omg I know I was in the second floor of my uncle's apartment with my mom and dad at like 3 in the afternoon and then that morning I was a home in warrior al and u was UN another one at like 5 in the morning poor me lol
[SARCASM] OK so he was out spotting tornados, and he flips out like that?
Hey bro, you found what you were looking for! Tone the squealing down just
a notch next time![/SARCASM] At least you got great shots and didn't drop
the camera! (I did the first time I went out chasing the tail!) Yes, I have
chased (and been chased by) quite a few tornados in my day.
+Brian Beard And YOU would not have any emotion in your voice? HE did an amazing job of controlling his language - no swearing at all. Most of you would be out there dropping F bombs every sentence. He did a great job with this video.
+Mike Benefield And if a tornado was an interior infantry line in an active CZ that would make sense. You can conquer a threat in a firefight, tornadoes...not so much.
It's easy to comment on this guy's tone of voice when you weren't there. I
bet some of those who who weren't there but were making the
bravest-sounding comments would have crapped in their pants. The one thing
that separates the man making the video and the bad mouthers is that the
man shooting the video actually had the balls to shoot the video. He, not
the trash-talkers, is the courageous one.
+Mike Benefield I don't crap my pants in sopranino voice register though.

I do. I'm just still waiting on the person I sent it to for VHS to digital conversion to actually upload it. If he doesn't soon, I'll go get the tapes and convert/upload them myself.
thanks for sharing this...since the 11 breakout ive been watching over and
over the aftn. coverage of the AL tornado event...(yes i have no
life...married with children..etc..lol) but seriously ...i kept hearing
about the morning complex of storms that went thru AL and hearing spann
saying that it would be a challenging event because of the infrastructure
damage due to the morning storms....i looked here and there for the
coverage of the morning storms...but not much luck...but this video helps
out alot....again thanks from the guy who has no life and makes long winded
posts....:D
Meep. Really late reply to this but not only do I have all the missing coverage on vhs, but also I learned today that the person I lent the tapes to for conversion has them ready for upload. Just waiting for him to have a free weekend to do so. Thank you! Weather geekery is the best geekery ;)
