I activated my OS (8.1) using this kind of method 2 years ago via Skype and was activated by Microsoft online. The problem is my product key, they were counterfeit and I got it from the internet. I'm confused why they activated it, which leads me to believe that I got a genuine key for free, right? Now, I'm really worried if I upgraded to Windows 10, they'd detect my system as not genuine. Windows update is deactivated from the moment Microsoft activated it. Is there among you who experienced this kind of thing and tried to upgrade their system successfully?

After contacting microsoft via skype the lady told me my activation id number ... But ... When i enter them and press activate it says : "The confirmation ID you entered does not match the confirmation ID you received.Please retype you confirmation ID."The point is that i retyped the damn ID over a thousant times and still nothing !!! Also when i press a wrong number for exmple in the "C" block it automaticaly says the same thing ... Anyone has this problem and propably a fix for this ?

Sir Last 6 Six months I m using win 8 Pro with mediacentre successfully activated with same Skype process using KMS server. There is no problem about activation as well as no problem about updates. But now a days there are many updates which I can download but when applying system shows Failure to configure updates. I have tried so many ways to solve the problem still as it is.

when i call number that u give , the lady asks to press 1 if i am home user and i do press this fucking number " 1 " from keyboard and also with my mause by skype BUT the lady says there is no pressed number. then call shut down..

I had the same problem, I solved it following the first part of the tutorial. You have to remove the old key of your Windows 8 ISO and put the new one from the linked list. I hope this may help you :)

Kms does not permantly actavate windows 8 there is no way to permantly actvate windows via kms the only way is to have a vaild product key from microsoft

I think there are 3 rearms in Windows 7 Home Premium x64, that's the first 30 days plus 3 months. i'm sure in Windows 8 you don't get more than in windows 7 but hopefully the same.

you have a number of rearms that you can use. after that, you have few registry tricks to reset the rearm timer
