Agent Smith calls Cypher "Mr. Reagan" ------------------------------ Smith: "Do we have a deal, Mr. Reagan?" ... Cypher: "I don't want to remember nothing, NOTHING ...
+Ethan M kinda hard to. The matrix was just a movie, with the typical happy ending; the machines were defeated, the war's over yeah!!!But dude this is real life, nothing changes, and hasn't changed for a long time now. Tptb are still running things, people still poor in Africa, another year of war and bloodshed added to the hundred years of war, same old shit. And really most people are still "plugged in", even some of of the so called awakened enjoy the benefits of the matrix and are too comfortable not to really try to change anything. So yeah, looking back now I should not have learned what I know now.
I'm curious if the Machines would have held up their end of the bargain
with Cypher or if they just would have recycled his dumb ass. No idea why
Cypher felt he could trust them.
+Patrick Dukemajian I think this is the truth of the matter. I really do think Cypher beleived he was going to come out on top but even if the backstabbed it wouldn't matter. He would NOT be CONSCIOUS of his suffering or death so it was worth it just drag Morpheus and his delusions down with him.
+Neal X Imagine that Justin Bieber would be Cypher. Did you heard about him before 2008? I don't think so. Thus, Cypher would emerge suddenly into the Matrix and no one would question it.
Machine wont lie, and they need "battery", you can see Smith call him Mr Reagan instead of Cypher, that's mean they still need him, and it is not hard to make him rich inside Matrix
+Neal X You can trust the machines because they're machines. They have no malice, they just do what's effective. Heck, they might not even be capable of lying. This may be why Cypher trusted them at their word.
+Neal X the machines need the humans for energy so the more humans they have in the matrix the more energy they have so they prob would give him what he wanted
+dudamara It's not that hard to make him important. Just make Cypher star in a breakout role. There are so many important and famous people today that we never heard of until they did this one thing
+dudamara No, man, the answer is pretty clear. They would have given him the deal, no doubt. The final movie even clarifies this, in a way. The Oracle asks the Architect if he will keep his end of the bargain he made with Neo. His reply is "What do you think I am? Human?"They definitely would have integrated Cypher into the Matrix again.
+ryanspears1986 It's easier to just kill off a nobody than to integrate a nobody to make a somebody. They'd have to change the minds of everyone to know that Cypher was someone "important" like an actor. How can they? there would be chaos, everyone would notice all the glitches and everything. They change the walls of a building and there's already a glitch that Neo notices. The machines would rather efficiently get to their goal than to change everything. These machines are programmed to uphold the biggest lie to humanity, they will continue to lie.
+Neal X Cypher may have been reasonably certain they would have held up their end of the bargain but he may have dismissed any doubt by saying to himself "even if they screw me over I am still better off".
+eric b That's what I thought, too. The machines wouldn't gain anything from screwing him over, so why not give him what he wants? Maybe screwing people over even when there's no benefit is just something we lovely humans do.
+Neal X Doubtful, sounds like they would have just destroyed the ship and killed everyone.
