In this video, Dr. Lane explains how the biceps tears and demonstrates the surgical repair required. Anatomy images, xrays, MRI and clinical photos of the ...
I first dislocated mine when i was around 10, done it probably a dozen
times since then, had a CAT scan when i was 14 or so, they said 'the
ligaments are loose' and to do some physo but nobody was really hands on
and i did't know what to do at that age, ended up dislocated again and i
gave up on physo and basically restricted my knee to vertical movement. Im
23 now, the last time i dislocated it was 16 and i haven't crossed my legs
since i was 14, i avoid that range of motion entirely.
Dr. M, this has happened to me over 10 times in the past year. When it
happens to me, normally it pops it self back into place. However, my
doctors tell me that there isn't a surgical option. I tore my right
retinaculum, and had partial tears of various other ligaments. Do I have to
live with this? I'm on my third opinion and physical therapy only helps me
start walking normally again- but it doesn't stop it from happening again!
The time it takes to put it back in varies. I've dislocated my patella four
times in my lifetime, all occurring in the year 2011. The first two times,
i was able to push it in myself with no problem and continue with my life.
The third time, it popped out and as I fell, it popped back in by itself,
and left my knee swollen. the fourth time, it went out farther than it had
before and it took about five minutes to get it back in.
I have dislocated both of my kneecaps a lot of times , the best option is
to be natural and do a lot of exercise , as long as it doesn't happen
everyday and you know how to reduce it yourself you are fine ;) however in
my case I have EDS type 3 and because of my dislocations I was diagnosed
with it which I guess is a good thing instead of never knowing what is
wrong with u ;)
My knee dislocated twice first time i was 15 was just standing still and it
suddently happened the second time happened when i was 19 last year i
stepped in a rollercoaster and the my knee dislocated again its fucked up
if your sitting in a rollercoaster and your stuck because of your knee...
:( still feel the pain sometimes tough its a weak spot forever
life sucks. Terminated from job due to injury no insurance left. I had 3
month post arthrosocpic surgery because i slipped on bleech floor and
diagnosed with grade 3 arthritis. never had knee problem in life it healed
but still cant walk properly Still it get stiff and it feel like dislocated
walk with cane. Life is horrible :(
A week ago me and my friends went to a park, I dislocated my knee there, we
found a nearest bench to sit, but the funny thing is I relocated it
successfully with my bare hands without any pain and my friend called me
superman, LoL. BTW, I am wearing knee brace now,for how many days I can
take it off and walk normally again?
13 dislocations later i can say, make sure you have someone slow the
patella back into the femoral groove. This will reduce damage to the
patella. The sudden movement will cause scars on the surface. The
pain/problems will not show until much later in life.
I've had this happen 7 times on my right knee and 3 on my left. But gotta
give the kid kudos, having someone else reduce it is the worst. I've
reduced it myself 8 of the times, and it's a lot easier when you're in
control of how it happens.
dang... this just happened to me, except I pushed it back in myself when I
fell to the ground. It feels like the most painful throb/ache seconds after
it happens. Watching this video makes me cringe. At least you got some
NOS!!!
I know how reducing feels... FUCK IT HURTS WHEN THEY GRAB IT AND REDUCE IT!
but it tooked only 1,2 seconds but still... i discolated my own kneecap two
times in same month! tooked 2-3 weeks and your leg doesnt hurt more...
hey there i hit my knee patella on a metal surface, on top of the patella
about 4 weeks ago, no signs of dislocation or swelling but hurts from time
to time and is uncomfortable what do you suggest is the problem
Patella fractures happen, but when the do you generally know something is
wrong. Intermittent pain like yours might be a small fracture but is more
likely a soft tissue injury. Only an x-ray will tell for sure.
Damn it, the bastard physician assistant I got just jammed mine back in and
gave me no nitrous. It hurt so fucking bad! I'd almost rather shoot a baby
out of my vagina, but I don't know what that's like.
And don't bother getting a surgery u can if it gets really bad that u can't
cope with it but it is so much better to be natural and rely on exercise to
strengthen ur leg muscles .
i just had this twice this year and many other times where it went back in
, ! one at my birthday party, one at vball prac. and one just at home , !
it really suxs
Happy Tumorversary!...My Fibroid Story
Exactly 1 year ago today my "Tumor Baby" (fibroid) was removed. On Tuesday, April 16, 2013, during a routine OBGYN visit for my annual check-up, my doctor ...
thanks for the great video! I had a few questions..I pulled my calf a few
weeks , after the first time I pulled it during a game .The following week
I played one more game and felt a sensation but still continued and
finished the full 90. Three days later I played one more smaller game and
after 40 minutes of play , my calf cramped or pulled.. Should I visit a
therapist if I have no bruising , and have the ability to walk pain free?
The only time I feel a pain is when I take off for a sprint...
This was really helpful, has this is the 3rd time I have torn my calf in
the same place. Its been 4 years since the last, tried to rest but it went
when I tried to walk on the strained muscle. I believe as it is the weak
spot. The rupture was bad the first time. But as I got treatment then and I
have done rice as before is there any reason to see a doctor? I am in a lot
of pain and there is swelling throughout my lower leg. But I dont feel
there is anything they can do. Any advise?
excellent video - I ran my first Marathon 2 weeks ago - Calf was tight
before the race - at mile 15 I had really intense pain and had to pull over
- I massaged it for 15 minutes and went back to running - I had to walk up
all the hills and then I could run no problem - After race was limping alot
-Now 2 weeks later - It doesn't hurt to walk at all- But around the muscle
inside of leg is very tender to touch dont dare run or go up a hill - Calf
raises do not hurt at all - Thoughts?
These (and the other calf strain videos discussed by Neal Reynolds) are
probably the best and simple to digest calf strain advice i have seen/read.
I suffer regularly from calf strain and most sites seem to have a general
idea of how to treat etc but Neal describes everything i experience (the
point about being able to sprint but not jog is exactly as i have
suffered). Some excellent tips and pointers and will certainly be adopting
them in my treatment and prevention! Thanks you!!
ran again n it caused limping for a while. this went on, then it went away
and I was fine for about 3 weeks, then I ran 4 runs fine, but on the 5th I
left the start line and just a few strides and it felt like an elastic band
slicked me twice inside my leg, and was twirling. I was helped to a place I
could sit down, I put ice on it. But when I tried to get up I could not
weight bear at all. confirmed as a Gastrocnemius Muscle tear and I am on
crutches. lesson in listen to my body
Thanks really interesting video, I do a lot of walking and long distance
rugged terain walking, but very little running, and I just tore my
Gastrocnemius Muscle doing an agility run with my dog. It did pull me up at
another copetition weeks ago, but I was able to walk up hills and long
distances and just limp a bit, I just couldn't run. This went on for a few
weeks limping while walking and a bit of pain. At agility It again went
funny trying to run in training or competitions.
It really depends on how bad they are. A minor strain with appropriate
treatment will be fine within 2 weeks. But anything more serious probably
won't be. Also, if it is both calf muscles at the same time (and there
wasn't a specific point when pain started i.e. a sudden sharp pain) it is
more likely that the muscles are chronically tight and spasming than
actually strained. Either way you need to see a professional
My back leg muscle is hurting whenever i try to run. when the pain starts
it is difficult to bend especially when going up or down or forward
movements. when i try to run forward it hurts but when lateral it is good.
i get this while playing basketball. i've tried to rest it for 3 weeks and
it feels alright. but when i started jogging, the pain comes back again.
still the same spot. is it really a calf strain?
Hey. Man I have a question Im in high school I have P.E Last period,After
P.E I go to Conditioning for soccer Since I play in a soccer team and go to
the games on sunday. I haven't played soccer in around 2 years So I bearly
joined the team and the first game I was running a lot and a few days later
when I bearly jog or run for 5 minutes my calves start hurting. What's wrong
with my calves?
So while playing today i rolled my foot over the ball and it kinda
stretched my lower part of left leg and i heard a loud cracking in my calf
just below my knee left side. I feard for worse! But i could walk though
with bearable pain but boy as soon as i bend my knee theres excruciating
pain in that area along with little tingle in my knee as well. I think i am
in lot of trouble?????
i think i have calf strains in both calves but in just under 2 weeks i have
an insight course with the parachute regiment..so obviously i will be doing
alot of very high intensity runs hills runs long distance etc and need to
keep my running up before then...will i need to cancel because of these
injuries? thanks
Hi there very helpful info. However if for some reason after you felt the
initial sharp pain you couldn't get your hands on a cold compress right
away is it too late to apply it (first time) a couple hours later? And
would I do more damage trying to stretch it within those missed hours?
Hi, I am facing problems with the front portion of my legs (below knee)
while running. It gets really stressed from the front and sides, nothing
like that happens with the calf though... As if the whole pressure is
generated on the front portion, on the bone only. What should I do??
I did and its a nothing else but a ACL tear...im doomed!! i followed acl
tear on internet and the question i have is that is surgery neccesary? and
why is mine towards outer side of knee and other have it inside?
nonetheless.....no football for me for months now :-(
@adamabdelaal SOunds like a calf strain. Make sure you rest it, apply some
ice and a compression support or bandage over the next few days. Once
comfortable to do so start some gentle stretching and get some massage,
then start strengthening it with calf raises.
No it's not too late. Apply one as sson as is possible and keep applying
every couple of hours for the first 2 days. Gentle stretching is ok as long
as it doesn't hurt. Generally in the first 1-2 days I wouldn't aorry about
stretching too much, just let it rest.
