I had prepatellar bursitis twice along with patellofemoral pain syndrome
and a dislocated patella. The first time the recovery was horrible, the
second time it healed up perfectly. I went to the doctor both times.

Wow, I've seen several doctors, had x-rays and even an MRI. All they said
was plantar faciitis and achilles tendinitis. I've been doing physical
therapy exercises and taping and this has helped those two things. But the
heel pain, in the middle of the heel, which gets worse as the day goes on
still remains and gets worse if I walk much (normal household and errand
walking, not walks for exercise). From what you describe, it certainly
sounds like intercalcaneal bursitis. My physical therapist did something to
move the calcaneous (sp?) bone into place and that helped, but she only did
this a couple of times. I think it stayed in place after that, but not
sure. The silicone heel pad in my shoe seems to make a difference, it's
hard to go without it.
And yes, I spent a lot of time standing on hard surfaces since I do (did)
woodworking. If I am able to resume woodworking, I'll do it on grass.
Thanks for giving this thing a name! Maybe I can get some help for it.
I'm currently wearing correctoes, but not for very long. Wearing them with
Crocs (with the silicone pad in the heel). So far, so good. I was wearing
rocker shoes at the suggestion of my PT.
Cool video. Do you have any videos on achilles problems being helped by toe
position? Also what are your thoughts on hallux limitus and the use of
minimal shoes?
So if i understand this correctly this one is different then Plantar
Fasciosis as there is inflammation (bursitis), so you have to treat this
one different?
Septic Bursitis - Knee Drain
I suffered from plain knee bursitis not too long ago that turned into full blown septic bursitis. Over the course of a week and a half I had to have my knee drained ...
Why are you draining this at home and not as an inpatient in hospital? My
husband just had surgery for a septic prepatellar bursa that resembled much
like your knee. His surgery was on 8/4, he came home 8/8 and hasn't slowed
down yet. I thank God that the doctor caught it this time in the ER. He was
admitted and operated on that night. Please don't let this go.
Without IV antibiotics, he may have had to fight for hid life. take care.
+smassey85 Why are you thanking God? It's the surgeon that did the good work - it was your god that let it go septic in the first place!?

Thanks for the information. I'm pretty sure this is my problem right now. I
go to the doctor in two days. I'm hoping this isn't a long term problem.
I'm quite athletic and this has already put a damper on hiking season.
