@youandmekid1 i ran out of characters--if they want your husband to drink a
hi sugar drink, i suggest that he not, if he does he should only drink a
very small amount--if it is a candy bar decline and eat the peanut
butter----please go to wikipedia and search for "reactive hypoglycemia"
read it and print it--bring it to the test and try to have the nurse/doctor
read it---tell them that this is what you are testing for---finally please
either call me 309-343-8501 or email [email protected] thanks
Best wishes to you and your wife. I hope things get better for her. My
girlfriend seems to have reactive hypoglycemia also. She has to eat small
meals every 3 hours and she feels fine,, but when he has a large meal high
in carbohydrates she gets very tired/weak and feels kinda ill. Sugar is a
big no no and she strives to cut it out of her diet as much as possible
because it creates a vicious cycle of up and down spikes in her blood sugar
levels. Ps. Get your wife the right blood monitor!
@youandmekid1 when you take the test tell them that you are looking for
hypoglycemia---lo blood sugar--if you can bring a glucose monitor with you
and take samples every 1/2 hr so you can catch the lowest reading---when my
wife took the test, it was set up to find diabetes--they, the test did not
have a low level range just high---they were only concerned with readings
over 200---bring some peanut butter and crackers for him to eat immediately
after the test---please call me 309-343-8501
@alfhildeik Thank you for the advice. The test is at 7:00am tomorrow. The
docs orders do state 5hr. G.T.T. for Hypoglycemia. They say nothing about
diabetes. I am understand that the episodes your wife has come about 3 hrs
after she eats. My husbands come while he is eating or shortly after. If he
falls asleep for about 45 mins to an hour, then all symptoms are gone. So
scary when it is happening though. I have a meeting this evening and am not
sure of the time zone (MST) difference.
I am going through the same thing with my husband. He is get his 5 hour
glucose test in two days. We are in the same boat as you all and do not
know where to turn. I was hoping this test would help in diagnosing the
problem. I saw both of your post and know your frustration. Hope you find
out what it is.
