Amazing windscreen test on the FJ. Riding down the road with the windscreen down is great for summer when it is HOT outside and there is no air movement.

watched your video on Laam seat,I own a 2013 fjr . I was wondering if it
makes you feel as if the seat is in the higher setting because of padding ?
I prefer the lower setting on the stock seat .I don't like stock seat for
all day rides.thanks for your input. Chris, Ocala Fl
Like the vid, very in depth. I'm currently looking at getting a fjr later
this year or early next, I currently own a road King, I like it, but I also
like the look of the sport tourer, I do about two long trips per year, and
am hoping that the fjr would be a nice fit for those. Have you taken any
extended trips on either of this one or the prior, if so how did it fare?
Just wanted to say thank you for all of the great videos. I have the same
year and model FJR 1300, and I really get a lot out of your videos. Your
camera work is excellent, the advice you give is sound, and you're a really
nice guy. Thank you very much!
One thing... I tried to send you a few bucks this morning via the "Support
TwoWheel Obsession" function on YouTube, but after choosing $5, putting in
a comment and my CC info and clicking "submit", I got an error. I'm not
sure if it went through or not, so I'll wait a bit and see if I get an
email or something (receipt). Just wanted to let you know that there was
an issue making donations. Thanks again for everything, you Rock!
hello Bryan.i have 2005 FJR and i have an oil leak in the front forks can
you help me by explaining the proses the way you do your videos? i really
find you way you do videos very interesting and easy to understand.thank
you .William Angel,from Los -Angeles.
Been thinking of getting a RDL. But I found Laam and he's got better
prices. Just going to get my front seat done. Girlfriend says she's fine
with her seat. I was wondering if when you ordered your seat, did you get
the over sized seat? Cause I definitely want the wings. I think that's what
will make the seat most comfortable. Even distribution of my a**.
Hey Bryan, I am looking into a Laam seat and I am interested in the fabric
you selected. Is that just standard black vinyl? It look like it has a
little texture to it. Also, is your seat considered oversized or regular?
+phalynx Yes he can certainly do that, just bear in mind the standard already adds an inch of height. He's CRAZY busy now, I got in before the explosion and my video didn't help lol Early morning calls seem to reach him the best, forget email.
I wonder if he could put more foam on it to build it up more. I purchased a used seat set so I can send those in. I'll take a good look at them when I get them so I can see what might be able to be done and then I'll talk with Laam. I like his pricing and he seems to want to build what you need vs. what someone normally builds.
Thanks man. I think the picture he has on his website is a little too "close-up" and makes the weave look bigger than it actually is. It looks great on your bike. I am going to have him make a set for me with 1 exception, I have a broken tailbone and I think if he puts an indention where it would normally sit, I wouldn't feel the pressure. I think that is similar to what you were feeling except you fixed your with more foam. I modified my recliner at home by removing a small section where the tailbone sits and it makes all the different in the world. We'll see.
May I ask what screen you used as your replacement? I'm looking at an
un-titled, un-registered 2009 FJR1300AE here, and was thinking about a
National Cycle windscreen for it.
TIA
I'm 5'9", seat height in the lower position for a 2015 fjr1300es.. I bought
the touring windshield and like you said at around town, commuting speed of
40 mph no turbulence. At highway speed i found still getting beat up a
little. Not as bad as the stock shorter windscreen but still enough to make
long distance highway riding fatiguing. What do tall, 6'4" [people do. I'm
looking to buy the Cee Bailey and see what happens.
Might have to sell my touring screen on ebay. Hope a midget buys it.
I've been watching your videos on your new FJ1300. Great vids and very
informative. On this one, please tell me you were not wearing white shorts
while riding. At 3:52 or so, hopefully it's an illusion.
I just got an FJR (2013) and have enjoyed and learned from your video's.
All except this one. Wind noise at 40-50 MPH? Who cares? Let me know how
much better the touring screen is at 85 MPH. Where it counts. You have some
great insight on this bike but unfortunately for you .. your riding seems
confined to suburban Florida which is is like... well.. you know......
boring. Take that thing to the mountains in the west.. Ride in Montana
where the speed limit's are 70 and above. Then tell me how that screen
works.
+Justin Fontaine All you had to do was watch some more videos. I have talked about it many times and you can see/hear for yourself it's exactly the same at highway speeds. It's a bit unstable above 90, but still a nice quiet bubble. Watch my going to AIMExpo vid for a freeway ride there with my visor up ;)
How To Get Your Yamaha FJR 1300 ES Bike On And Off The Centerstand
Visit //TwoWheelObsession.com for all the new content! My Bike Reviews: ...
If you’re a big guy, or an average fellow who does regular
weightlifting/strength-training, yeah, you can probably get it to go up.
But I’m average and I don’t do any weight lifting—and I can’t get it to do
more than rock back and forth. My FJR hasn’t ever gone up on the center
stand for me. I have managed to pick the thing off the pavement after
dropping it—done that 3 times—but it is an absolute pain in the ass. That
650 pound bike with its high center of gravity was designed to do one
thing, which is perform gracefully at speed—it wasn’t designed to be easily
maneuvered while idle.
+Fred Dietz as someone with a moderately heavy scooter, try and put your whole weight on your foot. it takes effort but it's worth it. :)

Pretty lame video. Since they weren't showing the bike, I was pretty sure
it's basically the same as my '09. Everyone bitches about the 5 speed
tranny, but I get between 43 and 50mpg (depending on the coolness of the
road) with lots of zip. Would a 6-speed give me 60mpg- I think not. Once
you get the suspension set up for your weight and riding style, it is an
amazing bike. I've only had it up to 135, but it was still pulling
surprisingly hard. Faster than my last bike, an '05 R1200RT.
This bike has a lot of potential, looks aggressive, good brand, reputation.
These updates could be called "mid-life" updates. I am sure there is a good
new version coming up, perhaps in 2014 or so. This bike can be up with the
BMW R1200RT with some useful updates such as standard ABS, Standard
Electronic suspension, 6th gear(this is a sports tourer!) and others.
I just checked. Just as I suspected, it remains a 5-speed. As a 2009 Yamaha
FJR1300 owner, I could tell this model was mostly a carry over, and the 5
speed confirms it. However, it does have TC and cruise control. The 5 speed
really is not that bad. The FJR is no sport bike, but ride both
back-to-back for 300 miles, then pick which one you prefer.
I agree, but during long distance europe tour on a highways i would just
love 6th "over gear". Just to reduce engine RPM's and a fuel use. Maby next
one will have 6 speed gearbox. Now whats the alternative? Ugly ass hell
VFR1200? I'll probably get GTR1400. I'll w8 till new Famous Japan Ride will
lunch some test rides and then will decide:)
I love my 2005 FJR but Yamaha needs to come out with better commercials.
Show us what the bike can do and what we can do with the bike. I don't want
to see love birds taking photos of each other, show the damn bike! Make a
commercial that we would want to see more than once.
Looks great. But a unless they changed ratios on 5th gear and made it a
true overdrive, a 6th gear would have made the new FJR full of win. I also
don't like that the USD fork and electronic suspension are available on the
clutchless version only (? I think this is true).
They finally woke up and added features to this year's model they should've
added a long time ago! I love my 2007 and I'm thinking real hard about
upgrading. Traction control, heated grips, cruise control, digital gauges.
Yes!
Does it now have 6 speed transmission? I felt this issue as a largest
disadvantage of that model during the test drive and comparing it to GSXR
1300 and ZZR 1400. Prettiest FJR ever!
