I just got this and here is what I do. I hate burning my fingers so I fold
a paper towel in half then poke it into a egg cup. I use a shot glass. The
paper towels cushions the egg then pick it up and either use the egg cup or
place in a bowl . I love it 5 stars for me no more burnt fingers as I
usually eat 3 soft boiled eggs for breakfast and that's a lot of handling
hot eggs.
Now all he has to do is learn to cook soft cooked eggs. He should check
out Cooks Illustrated. They have a fool proof method of cooking perfectly
soft cooked eggs. They even have a method of cooking extra eggs keeping
them in the fridge and reheating them and they still turn out perfect. You
can see their methods on you tube.
Bought this on ebay and got it today. It didn't have any instructions, so i
played it by ear. Didn't work too well-I tried to cut the pointy end. So
I'm going to try it again like you did and see if it works. Harold-I use
that same recipe-the eggs come out perfect every time!
The secret with soft boiled eggs is to run them under cold water after
boiling - just long enough so they are just warm to the touch. That way
they cease cooking inside, they'll stay runny for ages. THEN use the gadget
as shown, in your hand.
