+Mech E Here we consider all quasistatic processes as reversible in which along same path gaseous state can be restored back.. an ideal way to analyze thermodynamic processes...

how does a piston gets power to reciprocate? is it from electric motor?

For a reciprocating compressor, the prime mover is usually a reciprocating engine. For a centrifugal compressor: electric motors or turbines may be used. The application controls your decision.
