Because the lens you are using will only go down that low. If its a zoom lens, then it will have a variable lower aperture depending how much you zoom in. At 18mm the aperture will go to f/3.5 for example. If you zoom out to 55mm, the lowest aperture will change to f/5.6 or something similar. More expensive lenses have fixed apertures, meaning they can stay at their maximum aperture throughout the zoom range.
Canon EOS 550D/Rebel T2i - Tips & Tricks 1 - Camera Settings
I'm going through a few of the settings i use to get a more filmic look when using the Canon EOS 550D/Rebel T2i, and mostly i talk about the shutter speed.
Halo ive got a canon eos 550D camera when I take photos and download it to
my computer it tells me cant display the oictures how can I fix it and if I
must reset my camera setting how must I do it thanks
+Mckayla Van Der Westhuizen hey did you check if you shoot in raw or jpeg, if you do shot in raw only softwares like Lightroom, Photoshop etc can open, if you shot in jepeg any software should be able to open it.

Which Camera and Mic you used to shoot this video? Please be honest.
Because i am not getting the clear audio (too much background noise) with
the built in mic. Please suggest the good mic that i can plug it to my 550d
for making videos with clear sound quality. Thanks in advance.
@jamesmalonemusic The reason why I asked was that lint fibres are known to
introduce very fine scratches on glass. The problem is that some you can
only see when magnified. Especially if the glass is optically coated I
would be worried. Maybe microscope apos are different.
Really selling this camera short. A direct comparison to the Canon 7D
(approx $1500) reveals the T2i as having better, smoother, less noisy
images. They have the same 18MP sensor size, but their sensors are not
exactly the same and surprisingly the 7D produces very noisy and grainy
images even at 100 iso, where the T2i really produces much smoother images.
This is a great bargain and in absolute terms a wonderful DSLR.
I need a DSLR that comes with a lens and under about $1,200. The size
doesn't quite matter that much, what I need in order is: 1) Great picture
quality, like D90 2) Great video quality, like T2i 3) Great auto focus,
fast auto focus? 4) Fast speed, for pictures and following subject in video
Cameras I currently have in mind are Canon EOS Rebel T2i, Canon EOS 60D,
Nikon D90, and Sony Alpha DSLR-A580
@luckyazian13 Canon rebel T2i doesn't offer the fast autofocus in video.
The nikon D90 videomode is very basic. Every camera has quick autofocus,
but lenses do have influence on that It is rather important if you are a
beginner or you already know DSLR's. If you are a beginner, I think you
should go for the T2i or 550D and get some nice lenses on them.
I'm accustomed to micro four thirds cameras and find the biggest
disadvantages to be the frequently clipped or blown highlights and poor
noise performance at 400 ISO or higher. Therefore the emphasis the
presenter put on these very strong points with the 550D made for a
convincing case in favour of the camera. Helpful presentation - thank you.
@NikkLJs Sony a33 and a55 are much better sports cameras D3100 is more
beginner friendly You're mistaking range with price bracket. It's also not
the 7D, it may have an 18mp sensor but it's a different sensor with worse
high-ISO performance than the 7D, with a worse viewfinder, worse autofocus
and fewer expansion paths (flashes etc.)
i Bought the body only kit about a week ago. I already had a few canon
lenses. The 18-55m kit lens isnt actually that bad. Its more than adequate
for video. Sure its not L glass but neither is the price. And you get the
IS too so you can get away with hand held shots down to about 1/6 of a sec
but 1/10 is safer.
The 50D doesnt have video, its 15mp as opposed to 18 for the 550D. The 550D
and 7D have better image quality than the 50D. The 50D is bigger, better
built and shoots at 6.3 fps vs 3.4 so it depends what you need the camera
for... 50D for speed and durability, 550D for anything else, and video :)
Hi there. I've put the link to our Nikon D5100 video review in the

I haven't figured out how to properly utilize manual focus with this
camera. When wanting to focus on an object up close and then pulling out to
focus on a larger image we lose focus on the larger image. How do we remedy
this? Thanks so much for your help! God Bless!!!
@renzo351 if you get a class 6 card, there is a small chance of the
recording stuttering a lot - depending on the manufacturer, of course. some
'class 6' cards are only borderline class 6. for guaranteed performance you
should invest in a class 10 sd card
@SonoPortoricano Im not certain, but that looks like one of the slower
ones, an ultra or maby extreme card would likely work, i suggust that you
go to a local camera store and bring your camera and ask their opinion and
test the cards if possible.
The main fact is that canon didn't drop the gap-less micro-lens on this
model unlike the 500d which looses the performance to 50 because of not
having the gap-less micro-lens. but it's too late for me now, I m stuck
with Sony :)
which system shall i choose... i am a budget concerned guy... i am trying
to decide between nikon d3100 and canon 550d.. i dont plan to change system
in future so... plzz suggest one.. a reply would be appreciated..!!!
@ashkibala1 d3100 is just fine if your just into photographs only! but you
can't also go wrong with the 550d! better for manual video recording with a
external mic input! hmmmm.. it depends really on your budget!
VERY LOVELY CAMERA IF YOU LIVE IN UK I WILL SUGGEST YOU TO BUY FROM
WAOPRICES.CO.UK THEY GOT AN OFFER ON!!! camera for only £469. IF YOU BUY
FROM ANY STORE THEY NORMALLY SELL IT FOR SOMEWHERE AROUND £599.
@iGeekablee Yeah for sure it is. The 1000D is the entry level in the Canon
DSLR range. Its the cheapest of the lot. The 550D has better features and
its a newer model. But the downside is it costs more.
I wonder why some of the T2i/550D has 550D on the camera and some has T2i
on it so is it mean something to either one? If you could please response
to my question I would appreciate it. Thank you.
ive been searching for a DSLR for months now. ive handled a few DSLR's but
have never owned one. i just wanted to thank you for the review, this looks
like this camera was made for me. thank you!
This might seem pretty idiotic, but I can't seem to locate the Creative
Filters (toy camera, etc) function in my camera :/ I've found it once
before but now I just can't seem to remember...
@SonoPortoricano This could be because your memory card may not be fast
enough to record all the data, what resolution was it?, but then again 10
secs sounds a bit short.
Why didn't they discuss the HD video recording aspect of the camera? It's
one of the huge selling points of it. The review as a whole felt a little
rushed, actually =/
Record with the highest frame rate possible then play it back with 24 fps,
that would create a cinematic look, and not record with 24 fps since it
will not be smooth.
@RidingMad125 Beginner Canon's are xxxD's i.e. 1000D, 450D, 550D
Mid-Range/Prosumer Canon's are xxD i.e. 50D, 60D and (arguably) 7D Pro
Canon's are the 5D, 1D and 1DS
All I can about this camera is this - you really gotta try one out to
appreciate this so called budget camera. Don't seem so budget to me feature
and usability wise.
people on this review's always say that the 550d and the 7d are pretty much
the same, so why the keep saying that the 550d is a camera for dslr
beginner's?.
@LoveeViki You can buy just the body and fit a different lens to the one
supplied in the kit, but you can't take pictures without any lens attached
at all.
I am selling my 5dMkII before its price plummets a lot more and I will buy
this and show to people I can get good landscape photos with a cheap camera.

@DTAducttapewallets Well, Im debating between ram, which is a $60
difference. The video card, nvidia GT 550m or 555m, a $150 difference and
honestly, doesnt sound like a big of difference in performance. And maybe
the 1080p monitor. Ive heard bad things about the 900p monitor, like you
can only really see it from straight on... But I AM getting the wireless
display with the push2tv thing, and I kind of like the idea of somewhat
privacy. Why's everyone else need to see what I'm doing in full HD?
so, adobe premiere pro cs5 can work natively with Canon 550D footage
without conversion, rite? and what project setting do i need to choose for
my canon 550D footage and what export setting i need to choose? I'm really
new to premier and i need everyone's help right now because i have a short
film assignment. and i use canon 550D to shoot it but have no idea about
premier. thanks..
I wish he had scripted this. Spontaneous allows mistakes which we saw and
may have alerted him to the poor visual clarity. Maybe. Please redo slower
and try to make your mouse pointer larger and white, if you have that
control. Even on a full screen I could not see it most of the time.
Excellent points and features need more comprehensive explanations.
@guitarsinheat You can move each of your clips to separate sequences, save
the project and close or close and save...doesn't matter. Open media
encoder, add files, look for the project, open the project file with MC and
you can add each sequence as part of a batch. That's one way...probably the
easiest.
how can i put in say a 3 minute video and then useing the razor to trim out
the parts that i dont want and then export all of the clips as seperate
clips and not as a combined video...but each one seperate in some sort of
batch procession of all of the cut clips as a seperate clips thanks
maybe if i didnt want a 5gb file that failed 50 times and took 3 days to
upload i woulda uploaded in 720. but i took the smaller file that would
actually upload in a reasonable amount of time. if you dont like the
quality of my vids stop complaining and unsub. makes no difference to me.
@peterhanzaggie This is how i would do it in Sony Vegas. add 2 video
tracks, put the main video on the bottom track and the other on the top
track. use the track motion to pan/crop/resize the video and move it over
to the right. Im sure Premier has the same functions to do that too.
@M00374204 that for telling me now i and goin to deleted abobe master
colletion 5.5 i just dowload that just to use some editing thaz for this
comment, he cant u tell me if there a new one program tha apple has put
about final cut pro
@arsenalfalco it depends what kinda of video I do. sometimes i use After
Effects, if im doing a screen capture then I use Screenflow and export in
the Full 1440p which I then upload to YouTube. I use a few Different
programs
@guitarsinheat Actually, here ya go. After you cut your clips right click
on each and select nest. That puts them into a separate sequence. When you
open Media Encoder, file add. Search for the project and so on.
HELP ME PLEASE! How do I put a video IN FRONT of a video. AKA The main
video taking the whole screen, and another video playing simultaneously in
the right or left corner! PLEASE ME OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Premiere wins if you're talking about system requirements. Listen, some
people think 7 sucks. If they have a good computer with XP 64-bit edition,
they have the chance of having Premiere
i deleted my timeline for some reason, and dont know how to get it back, i
go to windows and click timeline to put it back in, and it shows with no
sequence it says
@arsenalfalco WOW a 12min file is 5GB LOL ok then. I have a 2560x1440
Screen and a 13min file is only about 700MB to 800MB LOL your doing
something wrong
@peterhanzaggie haha i did too! all you do is click on the window and make
it smaller :) it, HOW SIMPLY :)
Canon EOS 550D/Rebel T2i - Test Videos & Photos + Ads
I have a new DSLR. Canon EOS 550D / Rebel T2i (EF-S 18-55mm IS Lens) It is also my first. Some images are blurred, because I do not have a tripod. I am still a ...
@Rohrpaser einfach auf alles verzichten was du nicht brauchst also alk,
kino, zigarreten und schon hast mindesten 100€ am monatsende mehr auf der
hand. arbeiten und sparen junge und dann kauf dir das baby. aber beim
objektiv kauf sehr überlegt denken also kein kitobjektiv und keine
schlechten objektive ohne is usw.wenn du filmen willst kauf dir zuerst das
50mm 1.8 objektiv für ca.100€ und dann das 17-50mm 2.8 von sigma für 600€
gegeben falls später kannst du dir ein telezoom od fisheye kaufen.
Nice photo's. I have now an Canon PowerShot SX10 IS, and I want to skip to
an DSLR (I like 550D). But I wonder if here will be some differecent at
photo quality. I like DSLR because I can focus more than my camera. I have
money only for 18-55 is that enought? Also I saw a kit with 75-300 and
18-55 but without IS. So 75-300 without IS i think is so hard to take
pictures without tripod.
billigeren 70-300mm bekomme dann halt 55 - 70 fehlt mir,is auch blöd
fisheye find ich echt geil, allerdings im moment zu teuer und brauche es im
moment auch nicht :)
@Empireend schau dir das "Samyang Fish-Eye 8mm 1:3,5" kostet 300euro ist
aber nicht so lichtstark. welches telezoom ist das 55-250 wo du dir kaufen
willst? sorry falls was nicht richtig ist bei meinen post´s habe mit meiner
DSLR noch nicht fotografiert warte auf mein objektiv. :(
Even I have this camera with 18-55mm kit lens. However unlike yours photos
mine get cropped at edges while making slideshow. How do make it fit entire
frame? (like one yours in this video). Any special settings required? I use
the same picture setting as you mentioned (Large)
@Rohrpaser ich konnte schon immer gut geld sparen :) habe mir ne zeit lang
bisschen was vom monatsgehalt zurückgelegt, prüfung gemacht und
bestanden,und es mir gegönnt :D
I did another timelapse, but took all the mistakes that I learned from the previous one that I did into account and this is what I got! Cool clouds and cranes ...
