Good Guide. But i am being driven insane. I would really like to put the
'"size" of the jacket/blazer/sports coat. But the more i read the more i am
confused. At the moment i am including the size in my listings (along with
many other measurements)
Rule of thumb.
*Size Guide for Number:
We subtract 4 Inch from the Chest measurement,
as this is the industry standard.
*Size Guide for length letter:
Short: 30 inches or less.
Regular: 31 to 33 inches.
Long: 34 inches or more
Is this a correct way of obtaining the "Size" ?
Many thanks.

So, if I have a jacket that is too big in the chest, I can take it to a
tailor and they can make the proper adjustments? I won't have to just go
out and buy a smaller jacket?

I'm not so sure this is helpful...is the number based on inches,

+Sajal Sahai Generally in India you look for a good tailor and stick to him, Also if he is a quality tailor then he will understand the concept of slim fit and normal fit and what will look good on you. The model here, well he is a model with good height athletic body, broad shoulders and a v shape body so slim fit will obviously look good on him, but if you have even a slight tummy fat or average height or a stout body then normal fit is your only option. A good tailor will explain this better :))
Not able to throw a football? I want to be able to fight in my suit. I
don't got time to take it off if I got a thug tryin' a bust a cap in ma
faces.
I don't want these modern "slim fit" suits; they are just for courtship,
not life. I want a normal fit. Not loose and cheap, not slim.
+0hn0haha Yes sir, a good suit should support a tough guy in a fight. Also, it should have enough material to cover the extended belly after a hearty meal, which usually occurs after winning a street fight. These slim suits are crap and just a way for suit companies to make more money with less material. They are made for guys in touch with their fem side.
+0hn0haha All respect towards your opinoin! Quite honestly I can't really see what's the point to argue on the internet over a suit. So this is my farewell to you stranger and may you have an awesome day!
+TheMightyWalrus My point is, if you can't throw a football, idk if that can be considered good mobility, tbh. I like dressing well, but sometimes, I'll sacrifice fashion for safety and for the safety of the clothes: I don't want to rip my suit accidentally. That being said, I can see where you're coming from.
+0hn0haha Since that's what I call all fights that isn't part of a sport.Second I know very well that thugs can come and it's true they are usually no problem. (Unless they carry a gun) But here's the thing the suit should fit so you have a good mobility it's not supposed to fit tight it should fit firm.
Ahem. You're walking your girl down the street. A thug comes out with a baseball bat. Normally, baseball bats don't scare me; easy to take care of because of their fast swing. Also, I usually carry a knife or two on my person. Also, there's my ccw permit. And the occasional barfight. Also any other self-defense scenario. And who's to say a formal even won't end up in a fight? And a question: have you ever even been in a fight? Why do you assume I'm talking about "street fights?"
+0hn0haha First of all how often do you wear a suit in a fight? Secondly the only time you should really wear this type of suit is for FORMAL events. Not street fights...
