props on being able to do it whatever way works for you, but you don't need
a scope or fine tip iron. have to just drag solder a whole crapload of
solder on the pins and then clean up the residual stuff with copper braid
and flux. If you have really good flux you might not even need to clean up
left over stuff because it will stay on the iron. for me the hardest part
is putting the new port into place and have all the pins lines up with the
pads before the through hole posts bond.
if this guy is charging 150, that sounds about right for someone who owns a
shop, gotta pay the bills.
+jimmy jackeroo yea i believe in you get what you pay for. 150 is high for some people, i understand there will always be cheaper alternatives. we're not here to compete with that.the video was our old method of doing the repair which was a PITA to do. we have a new method, but requires a bunch of tools and steady hand. microscrope is a must for this as the pins are way too small and every now and then the pads on these boards get ripped which require additional rerouting of the source point to the hdmi pins. this tops as one of the hardest repairs at our shop. hence the price.... we had to fix many of these ports especially when people bring them to other repair shops that totally mess it up due to not taking off the port properly. usually customers get a "its just not fixable" scenario...
Ok thanks for this! the video you are on about I watched as well, he just used heatgun to remove and put on new port. But I think the only reason he's one worked was because the previous owner must of left warranty stickers intact and didnt mess around with the board it self. The motherboard I have, the idiot has burnt around too much and I thought just simply using Heat Gun to take off and replace it would work but it didn't...
Saw a video where a guy showed that he doesn't, but yes I do and find it hard to believe it would work without soldering them. You can use the drag solder technique but you need a good iron like weller or hakko that will stay hot. Then just use flux and copper braid to remove the excess. Good luck to you.
+jimmy jackeroo Seems like you're experienced in this, I have managed to take off the HDMI port fine easily without problems, but when you use the heat gun to put it back into place, are you supposed to solder the pins from HDMI port onto the pin placements on the motherboard afterwards? Thanks
+simon whittaker 150 is reasonable vs getting a new/used one for $250+... and you know you getting something professionally done. we're in nyc and we get a flood of these repairs which increases our experience in getting these repaired 99% of the time.
+simon whittaker sony charges more on the final invoice and you lose all your data! they just send you another unit and not repair it which means it can happen again as this is a known defect in PS4 systems. They manufactured it with lower quality hdmi ports.

How to Replace A PS4 HDMI Port 1115A, 2001A & Upgrade, The Right Way!
This Video shows you how a proper Replacement of an HDMI port looks for a PlayStation Model 2001A & 1115A Join me at the end were I show you examples ...
+Kayemache Heat Guns will destroy your game system and I do not recommend the average person attempt to replace there own HDMI port even if you use only a soldering iron to remove the port in a more traditional manner most of you will destroy the contact pads and so destroy your Game System.
+Kayemache No, there are other ways it can be dun safely but using a 3 faze BGA Welder is the best way by far. Even using an Expensive BGA Welder like I Do you would find that Manual Soldering of the pins will be Required over 60% of the time.
+AntiMusick Thanks Consider putting up a Shout out on your channel, I have a $500 Cash Giveaway first person to comment wins, Only for anyone that dose this!:-) You will find it in my Active Giveaways play list Go check it out.

this all seemed a bit too simple if it's possible to remove AND replace te
hdmi port purely with a heat gun. is any flux or even solder paste needed
or was the existing solder enough to reconnect all the pins?
i used new solder and flux, first after removing the old port i had to remove the old solder. Used desoldering wic, after removing all the old solder i applied new flux new solder to all the contacts and reapplied port using hot air.
Ps4 hdmi port has no signal'
This stuff sucks hopefully this does not happen to y'all guys:'(
