Waking Up To A New Reality | Tina Collins | TEDxBaltimore
A testament to resilience in the face of a disabling mental illness. A journey of recovery from schizoaffective disorder. Recorded at TEDxBaltimore January 2016.
Thankfully,... i was stroke for 6 months,... i am weak in the right
side,... sometimes i am lonely,.. needs someone to talk and vent,.. this
stroke make me far from my friends,..... will you be my friend,.....
+Fahmi Mashar of coarse I will I know how hard it is you can friend me on facebook if you want the people that are still in your life those are your real friends so forget the life you had before and focus on where you go from here it's taking me a long time and I'm still not there.
I really do hope that things get better for you soon. I am in no way
qualified to give you advice but just as one human to another, I can see
that you are distressed, so I truly hope that you get the help and support
that you need to get better. I am sure the mental health professionals that
are treating you have seen people in your situation before, so don't be
nervous about opening up to them and telling them exactly what is going on-
it may be the first step towards your recovery. I hope you start feeling
better soon xx
Hang in there it gets better. Be honest with your therapist. There is a
large group of schizoaffective people in a Facebook group. You just need to
search schizoaffective on Facebook.
Hey Loretta! cbd in cannabis is an anti-psychotic and thc in cannabis is a
natural mood regulator. It's what I use and I notice I'm more animated, it
feel like internal lubrication, I don't know how it works exactly but I do
feel better. Research it, it may just be what you need. Find yourself a
good roughly 50/50 strain. 'Drugs' aren't necessarily bad, well cannabis
that is. Stay away from hard drugs. :) Music helps me align my thoughts. Or
I like listening to a bible book on youtube also helps to align thinking.
Anything positive. Take care.
+Fernando Perez thank you for advice i live in Tx and I don't think they give you chd

SUBSCRIBE I make different kinds of videos. This is a video about me sharing about my mental disability called schizoaffective You can ask me questions if you ...
Is silly, allowing myself to cry is ok, and when I'm angry after to write
down some pretty cool words. I sometimes sense things that aren't there to,
now I use the power of my mind to change it, like if I smell smoke I
imagine it smelling into oranges, a bit like you did with the golem Lord of
the rings picture, hope that helps you. Take care :)
Hey how you doing now? Loved your post, so inspiring! Your voice is amazing
and powerful, guess the most gifted people in this world sometimes come
from the hardest places of the mind. Being so intelligent has its ups &
downs. I pray you still keep going forward & find the peace in heart and
mind you truly deserve. I'm a classified paranoid schizophrenic, I'm one of
the nicest most lovely people and for me growing up in a world that I
wasn't what I thought would be was pretty traumatic to the point where I
kinda let others abuse me, it was all I knew, and because I couldn't do or
be the same as them guess I broke down (in to 2) and had a the voices of
their thoughts and felt what they were feeling, didn't realise it was their
stuff though for a while honestly thought it was mine. I laugh about it now
because by going through their issues to the point of thinking they were
mine, well now I have great deep empathy and compassion for all and a heck
of a lot of forgiveness in my mind
I agree.I am doing well thanks a lot better coping with the voices not as scary anymore.Yes forgiveness is key,and the mind knows to forgive but the heart may not always agree it takes a while for the heart to forgive but the mind is also important.Secret prayers to forgive and be forgiven are always needed to keep a sound mind.
If you read the book of Mark, it describes all the types of people that had
demons cast out of them. There could be genuine disorders, but most cases
of mental disorders like schizophrenia are cases of demonic possession.
I've known of people who were like you and had demons cast out of them and
they were perfectly fine after that. All medication does is sedate you. You
could possibly be cured by deliverance. Research it, read Mark and see what
you think. In many cases it is curable
+Noran Davis Wow, is that ever interesting! It's a perspective I've never encountered before. Most, if not all, people I know would only accept the Gospel if it were shared with them without any pressure. One fellow I witnessed to actually took issue with me until I told him that whether he accepts Jesus or not, is none of my business and that it is between him and God alone. When I said that, he got a big smile on his face, thanked me and then related how he had been given a "high-pressure sales job" by some Mormons in the past. Later I found out he had begun researching religion. But I totally get how you took the rebuke as love and concern, and you must be wise indeed to take it that way, because most people I know wouldn't. Maybe it's a cultural or regional thing. The person who rebuked you must have displayed genuine Christian love for you, because many would do it without real concern. It intrigues me, because lately I had been wondering if I could be doing more saving than witnessing. I'm going to definitely keep your example in mind and pray about it. So thanks for sharing that, man. Cheers, and God bless!
+Noran Davis Yes you can rebuke them but that doesn't mean hate them.Rebuking is an act of love because you want to show them the grace and mercy of God.Obviously hitler didn't find it as he committed suicide.Pedophiles and other ungodly people well there destination is also hell unless God chooses to save them and show them grace.Even though they are evil or ungodly we are to bless them, meaning if they are hungry or thirsty give them what they ask for, because even so we were once sick and depraved doing shameful things before God.
But is Hitler my neighbor or my enemy? No, he's an evil, sick reprobate who would have NEVER known Jesus. God gave him over to vile affections and his vile affection was money and power. I'm not talking about our personal enemies, I'm talking about sodomites, pedophiles, people like Hitler and Mao, the most vile, sick, reprobate people we are not commanded to love. But also I'm mostly talking about false teachers. And the Bible commands us to rebuke them sharply. If I believe the whole Bible, I have to interpret it so that both verses are true. Not pick the one I like and Paul said sharply rebuke a lying false prophet. In trying to abide fully in Christ I'm going to obey that command
+Noran Davis Jesus was clear when he said "you have heard it said love your neighbor but hate your enemy, but I say love your enemy and pray for them" An enemy of a jew are what they consider the ungodly. But those who believe and have faith in God yet live like the ungodly God will justify. Also remember that God will have vengeance you just feed your enemy when he is hungry till God makes judgement.
It only offends me with salvational issues tho. Not the issues and differences that don't matter that we can disagree on and both be saved. That's ok if they just don't want to talk about it. But it's something they withhold thinking I'll go to hell if I don't accept that. But I've ALWAYS been like that and a few years ago I came across a verse that really spoke to me about my personality and how humbly, lovingly, and gracefully accept rebuke lol“Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.”Proverbs 9:8 KJVAccording to God I'm just wise lol jkAnother good one I stumbled across one day was“It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise, than for a man to hear the song of fools.”Ecclesiastes 7:5 KJVWhich is related but more related to what we were talking about earlier.
Lol. And I don't know about won me over. I don't take rebuke as pressure or threatening. Because of my personality I take it as loving. More like "this person loves me enough to tell me the truth no matter how much it hurts or offends. He's willing to take that risk of "being a jerk" to extend his love toward me and it's clear he area about me and only wants good things for me." And I interpret it as love. But can also interpret it as carousing or hateful. Like I know when the person is rebuking out of of or just to start trouble or don't like me. But when people think I'm wrong and just back off and say "well we disagree" and just avoid correcting me for the sake of 'keeping peace' THAT I find offensive. When it's a serious issue that is a salvational issue to one or both of us, and they think I'm wrong and I could go to hell according to what I disagree with and that person just backs off and doesn't at least try to make a case I take that as "I'd rather you die and go to hell just to "keep peace" than try to correct you and not care if it offends you as long as you at least hear what I believe is the truth so I know that it wasn't me not being bold enough to tell you the truth that sent you to hell." That's how I picture what they are thinking because that's how I myself look at it. I'd call THAT the most wicked and hateful thing you could do to someone. Just say "eh, go to hell, I don't care." That's wicked. And it offends me worse when people do that than if they tell me I'm wrong even if they don't convince me
+Noran Davis Ha! How very interesting. I never understood that people were like that. See, I would never have caved in under pressure of a threat from anybody, because I wanted to find a God whom I WANTED to obey out of love and respect. And I did. Jesus won me over with His Grace and gentleness. So naturally, I offer the same to others. But blunt rebuke won YOU over. Praise the Lord. Well, ya learn something new every day!
Well, that I would mostly agree with. I myself don't respond as well to gentle words. I respond much better and with more openness to blunt unadulterated truth, hard preaching or rebuke
+Noran Davis Interesting points you brought up, and I'm very happy to hear that you are preaching and getting people saved!! Hallelujah! At times I wish I had the authority to convict people, but the Lord has not given me that privilege. Rather, I have preached to many who may have rejected the 'hard line' Gospel, and instead just shared with them my testimony of meeting Jesus and witnessing the miracles that He wrought. I have often been told that what I shared with them made a great impression on them, whereas the 'hellfire' preachers just 'turned them off' the Gospel completely. They appreciate being given a choice, rather than be forced by threat of going to Hell. It all depends who you're talking to, and how they process the information. Same goes for rebuking; some people respond better to a gentle word, and others may need a sledgehammer! So it seems the Lord gives us individual abilities in order to save different types of people. Well, keep up the good work, man!
No, you're misunderstanding me. Im not talking about following the law to be saved. I don't know where you're getting that. Im talking about clear commandments to reprove, rebuke and exhort as well as, like Jesus and the Apostles, sharply rebuking false teachers teaching works salvation or any other perverted Gospel. I'd say the most common would be people who teach works salvation since Jews are Paul's primary target in that verse. I'm doing the opposite of propping up works salvation, rather I'm saying the people teaching that and leading people away with a false Gospel is who Paul tells us to rebuke.
It's even a sin to love and help those who hate the Lord. “And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Shouldest thou help the ungodly, and love them that hate the Lord? therefore is wrath upon thee from before the Lord.”2 Chronicles 19:2 KJVIt says God's wrath is on that King for both loving and trying to help those who hate the Lord. But I would agree otherwise. Except where the Bible commands us to hate, not associate with, or rebuke someone. All things for which there are clear scriptures that teach what that is and when it's appropriate. We are never commanded to love everyone. On the contrary we are commanded not to lol now our PERSONAL enemies, someone who strikes us, or someone who lies about us at work to get that promotion that we were suppose to get, or someone who cuts us off in traffic, etc. but pedophiles, hitler, evil reprobates God has rejected and have no hope of salvation and aim to drag others down with them. This is all clear teaching in both new and Old Testament and even some from Jesus. Should someone reject those verses and teachings because they don't like them? How do you suggest I interpret a command to do what you say only Jesus can do when Paul disagrees. Should I listen to Paul or Martin lol no offense, I'm being genuine and not at all sarcastic when I ask that. I'm curious how you interpret not the verses, but the commands of God that contradict what you're telling me
+Noran Davis You do understand when we come under the grace of God we are no longer to be considered sinners but saints. It is hard for people to understand that for which reason Paul says they need to renew their minds. If you are under the law and keep it to every detail you are under sin.
We don't need to do what Ray Comfort does and just tell them how wicked they really are, the Holy Spirit will do that, all I have to show them is "you're bad enough." Then I can move straight into the Gospel. Not only that, people actually get saved and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ when I witness to them....ever notice how out of the hundreds of videos these false prophets Ray Comfort and his little minions Kirk Cameron and Tony Milano and them, NO ONE ever gets saved!!!!!!!lolol so I agree with you and the proof is in Ray's false gospel of taking a verse out of context and using "the law is our schoolmaster to bring us to Christ" as the center of his Gospel, but skips the more important verse that says "the GOSPEL is the POWER of God unto salvation." You hear that Ray Comfort?lol the Gospel, not the law, has the power to save. But yeah there's not just verses but commandments from the Lord brother, that instruct is to rebuke the most wicked false teachers. Because some of them are reprobate and it's too late already and they can't be saved. As Romans 1 teaches. It says 3 times "God gave them up/over" and I'll show that to people and they read it themselves and say "I still don't think God gave them up"lol YOU JUST READ IT!!!! Then you disagree with God is what you're saying lol but it's not God just giving them up, they "did not want to retain God in their knowledge" and THEY rejected Him first. So He says 'ok' and gives them what they want and gives them up and over to do vile things outside of the normal human sin nature. It can be "too late" for someone before they are dead. That's what Romans 1 teaches
Well, I don't know Martin, I just know what the Bible says, and the Bible says if the deceiver has any hope it's if you rebuke them sharply. Paul did this, Peter did this, not just Jesus. All the apostles and OT prophets as well rebuked people. And there is a time and a place and it's an issue of discernment. I can tell a wicked false teacher from someone who's just deceived. I can give you several verses that are clear statements about this if you'd like. We are commanded tho to reprove, rebuke and exhort. Not just to exhort. I'm not making an accusation against you, or your faith, but the prosperity Gospel is dangerous because it is a half truth but it's still a lie. Joel Osteen is a false prophet who denies Jesus is the only way to heaven and he uses the same arguments you do to support his reasoning why he doesn't preach against sin or anything like that. When giving the Gospel I'm not like the false prophet Ray Comfort who spends all of his time on point #1, being "all have sinned" or "you're a sinner." BUT, I still present point #1 because without acknowledging sin, there's no need for a savior in their mind. At the same time when giving the gospel that's the quickest and easiest point. With 90% of people, even atheists it takes MAYBE 2-3 min tops to cover point #1 and get them to admit they are a sinner and have broken Gods laws
+Martin G I think its funny you dont know me. I am a christian and I have spoken to him many times and still do. Your brief experience is everyday with me.The lord speaks to me daily.I have felt the profound love and am still amazed by him and all he can do.
+Noran Davis I presume you're talking to me. Gotcha. I get your point. My point, however, is that even those false teachers you speak of who are deceiving others, have been deceived by a lying spirit. Only Jesus has the authority to rebuke the lying spirit who lied to them. Case in point: one day the Lord led me to approach a couple of JWs who had a display set up on the sidewalk. I was friendly to them and shared many stories with them of having met Jesus. I told them specifically that, because I had met Him in person, I knew absolutely that He was the one and only Son of God. They enjoyed the conversation and I walked away feeling good about meeting them. It was only then that I remembered that the JWs don't believe Jesus is the Son of God. I chuckled and thanked the Lord for once again winning people over with Christian love, while sharing the truth with them in a likable manner. See, if I had been full of righteous ferocity and spewed the fires of Hell over them, they would never have been able to receive my words. In like manner, it was Jesus' love and tenderness that won me over to serve Him, while I was yet a despicable sinner. Jesus hates sin, but loves the sinner. Pray for His gift of Mercy for those who have been led astray by deceitful lies. Btw, the Holy Spirit never EVEN ONCE led me to argue with someone or rebuke them, because He is the definition of Grace.
I'm not talking about lost people tho. That's not my Gospel presentation lol I'm talking about wicked false teachers who's goal is to deceive and beguile. We are commanded to rebuke them sharply. I'm not talking about the people they deceive
+Soul Collector God It was nothing that I did, outside of seeking Him. He knew that I needed His help. I didn't "see" Him, but His Presence was there. The very first time, His Spirit came right to me and He spoke only two words. I INSTANTLY knew: WHO He was; That He was FILLED with compassion; and that He did not judge me AT ALL. Another time, He was scolding me at length for stubbornly persisting in not forgiving someone, but He was SO INCREDIBLY LOVING AND KIND, and without a trace of anger, as a pet owner would scold a beloved pet who chewed his newspaper. Absolutely - remarkable - experiences - that I shall never forget. Nothing can be better than this. And having met Him, I know more about Him than if I had studied theology for decades. You will NEVER know such profound love as this. Thanks for asking, and reminding me of the experience. I pray you will meet Him. Beg Him to come to you; it will change your life.
+Martin G What did Jesus look like?Did you get to see his face? And what did he say? I have to ask am curious, did you do something like pray and fast for a certain amount of time that he appeared to you?
+Noran Davis Noran, as an elder brother in the Lord, may I share something with you? Jesus spoke to me in person, and His Angels guided me to witness to many hundreds of souls. In doing so, I have encountered people of all stripes: JWs, Mormons, Muslims, Sikhs, atheists, Catholics, Pentacostals, homosexuals, 'street people', lost, hopeless, drug addicts and 'mental cases'. And in all that time, He led me to show them first of all, brotherly love. For without His love, we will never win them over to Christ. As a sinner myself, Jesus first won me over with His love. As I grew spiritually, He later introduced His discipline which made me a stronger, wiser Christian. But if all you are offering people is God's judgments, then they are unlikely to want to know the God of Truth whom you serve. My understanding of serving Jesus is that I must lay down MY desire for others to know Him, and simply let the Holy Spirit do His work without my interference. Please pray for the Holy Spirit to go before you, and for your desires for others' salvation to be put to death. This is what I have been practicing, and it is working wonders. Because it's not MY business whether they get saved or not; it's His, and His alone. Please pray over this verse that the Holy Spirit directed me to read: "For God has appointed one man, the Lord Jesus Christ, to judge the living and the dead".
The Bible says rebuke them sharply. So I try to get the people they deceive saved, but I sharply rebuke lying false prophets with a mouth of fire“For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision: Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake. One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretans are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies. This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith; Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth. Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.”Titus 1:10-16 KJVHe calls them REPROBATE. The same thing he calls sodomites. They are wicked and perverted and the Bible says the false prophet has eyes full of adultery and cannot cease from sin. “Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children: Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the madness of the prophet.”2 Peter 2:14-16 KJV
I'm usually nice to most people, but if I meet religious leaders like priests, the people from the Latter Day Satanists(aka Mormons), Jehovah's false witnesses, or a Pentecostal pastor or something, I'm not nice. Because they deliver men into the belly of the beast and condemn them to hell in droves.“But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.”Matthew 23:13-15 KJVJesus was very angry about them going out of their way or "compassing sea and land" to convert someone to be a child of hell. That was more abominable then just being a miserable child of hell yourself. That's bad enough.
+Soul Collector God Absolutely. And while I believe in the 'gift of tongues' in theory, I have yet to see anything other than meaningless babble. At the Pentecost, the Disciples were speaking in actual foreign languages, not just repeating a set of about a dozen syllables as I have seen done. Someone once told me that it was an Angelic language, but my discernment tells me it was demonic, not Angelic. I've also noticed that those who practice this 'gift of babbling' have other demonic intrusions as well. They are the same type who try to cast out devils and demons by force of will, rather than by spiritual authority, and often what they are trying to cast out is not from the Devil, but from the Lord. But that goes right over their heads because they are following "feelings" rather than Scripture and fact.
+Martin G Just to remind you that there is the gift of tongues that comes from the holyspirit.I never heard of satan making fongues as a sign, but if he can do false miralces he can do that as well.
+Soul Collector God There are mystical 'phenomena' that can be conjured up by those who are so desperate for 'signs and wonders' that Satan will gladly provide them. Yet they are not from the Lord. One example may be the false 'gift of tongues', which is not a language at all, but senseless babbling. I notice that those who practice it seem also to be plagued with accompanying demonic attacks (not "possession", thank you for that earlier clarification, Noran Davis). One church the Lord sent me to that practiced false miracles was inundated with sexual immorality, mental health problems and even suicide. No wonder the Bible says "Test the spirits, whether they are of God".
+Noran Davis Interesting point. I appreciate the distinction you made between being 'attacked' and being 'possessed'. I hadn't contemplated that before. Reflecting on a young Christian woman I ministered to recently, it occurs to me that she was having attacks rather than possession. However, I maintain that some "believers" can be possessed only because they are not really true believers. I'm reminded of a church I was sent to by the Lord to correct them of practicing 'false miracles'; many of their adherents had serious demonic infestations and, indeed, one of them eventually committed suicide.
+Soul Collector God Point taken. But whether attacked or possessed, the 'mental health' issues you described are caused by 'unclean spirits'. That is, they originate in the spirit realm, rather than the mind. And yes, Christians can be demon-possessed and in fact many are, and that is because they may be 'intellectual Christians' or weak believers. But one who is filled with the Holy Spirit will not be possessed.
I agree with soul collector God, I believe the Bible teaches that believers cannot be physically possessed. Everyone who had demons cast out in the Bible had the Holy Spirit after and were in their right mind. And how I said that Jesus called it blaspheming the Holy Spirit to say He had a demon when it was really the Holy Spirit He had. So I'm always careful to assume a believer has a demon. I also agree we can be attacked by demons as believers, but believe the scripture teaches we can't be physically possessed because the Holy Spirit cannot be present with demons as well and we have zero examples of believers being possessed in the Bible. And I generally tend to be of the philosophy that "if it's not in the Bible it's not true" or at least most likely or not necessarily true
+Martin G I am not demon possessed. And to say we (Christians)can be demon posessed is like saying Paul could have been posessed by a demon therefore his scripture could be satan's lies.I would beware to what you are hearing and seeing.A Christian can be attacked but not possessed.
+Soul Collector God Even though you are a confessing believer, you can still be possessed by demons. I saw an interesting exorcist (Bob Larson) who taught that demons and devils have "legal permission" to take up residence in you, due to either sins you have committed or 'generational sins' passed down from your ancestors. The most efficacious method of eliminating them is to: verbally repent (of your sins), and forgive and bless (those who have sinned against you) in the name of Jesus. Practice speaking those words out loud daily, continually, as it is a legal contract to the spirit realm, and breaks the contract you had made with Satan by your previous actions. The reason for the repetition is to reprogram your old thought patterns to come into line with the new contract you've made with Jesus. It works.
But not ALL visions and prophecies are of God. Many can be from Satan, who is the master of lies. One has need of spiritual discernment to distinguish between the two.
I agree they are some cases of demonic possesion. However that is not my case. Having spiritual experiences doesn't always mean you are demonic ally possesed, example visions and prophecies. It would be like saying the disciples were demonically possesed.Lets say for example the disciple Paul suffered because satan always attacked him and was like a thorn In his flesh. Such is my case if I were demonic ally possessed I wouldn't be able to pray and couldn't see Jesus as my savior, which I do.A demon doesn't say Jesus is his savior because they are already condemned.
