I took my all new Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8L V6 over to Next Level Performance of Altamonte Florida for a baseline dyno run with shop owner Geoff Skorupa.
Well,if you think about it,a exhaust system on a turbo engine is really for
sound control for the most part because the turbo creates its own back
pressure,so really the more you open up a exhaust on a torb, the better, well
at least until the turbo becomes uneffecient that is.
It's about a 15% loss with a manual transmission... Your right, it's about
a 20% loss with an automatic transmission give or take but, you definitely
lose more with an auto vs a manual. That guy at the dyno shop should have
known that. I'm surprised he didn't. ??
Sorry, I didn't hear them say that when I first watched it. I must have
been distracted or something. I heard them say it the second time I saw it.
Anyway, nice numbers! The new genesis is a really nice car, both the coupe
and sedan. Take care. ---Chris
If you listen closely he nails the HP estimate right on by saying
"240....250". The loss is different on every car. I was the first person
talking saying I thought it was around 220-240. Those guys are great and
know their stuff for sure.
ESC was off. I was going to mention the paddle shifting mode for the dyno
but I figured I'd let him try his methods first. Next time im in the shop
i'll tell him to give it a shot doing it that way.
