Please read this! This is my first tutorial, I'm sorry if it's long and boring ^^; I really want to help others learn how to color. I started with something simple, but if ...
Hi Karen :) thanks very much for this tute!! I havent seen another on
backgrounds like it yet, its very helpful! I hope u see my comment, because
I was wondering how it might work out to use the refill ink with a paint
brush on a background or large area. Then we could cover more space at a
time, using a larger tool to fit the job. Im just starting out with copics
& havent needed to buy any refills yet and also havent tried any large
areas yet. Have you ever tried this method? TFS! Love ur work!
Great tutorial. You covered everything well! It's funny though, for most of
my backgrounds that aren't just meant to be a solid color background, I
prefer the sketch nib. It usually turns out sharty in the scan, but I
really like that method. I also like how you talked about coloring the
background first ONLY when you have a darker character. I really enjoy your
tutorials, I think that it's important for an artist that's experienced but
still somewhat a beginner to do tutorials.
Ah ha, yes, I can understand how that would be now... thank you very much
for your reply and saving me the trouble and ink!! India inks sounds like
an interesting option to try, thanks 4 that also! I'll see what I can find
online, on those. Arent they also used for temporary tattoos? I love to
experiment, so I might come up with some more ideas with the markers and
ink refills! LOL Will let you know if I find anything good. ;) Little Ron
is precious! God Bless you all :)
I tried that once, I don't recommend it. The ink is quick-drying. Because
brushes aren't as dense as a copic marker nib, the ink dries out before you
can use it all and it ends up adhereing to your brush. It gets to be a
sticky mess, haha! If you would rather paint your backgrounds, I recommend
using colored india inks. They're formulated for the job and you can dilute
them with a little water to get more of a range
@OldSophie Thanks :) Yeah, I think that the brush nib is easier to blend
multiple colors. I dunno, it works differently for different folks. I like
doing tutorials because I learn as I'm going, too. I do a practice run or
two so I can make a new video with what I have learned.
Thank you for this tutorial, I didn't think it was long and boring and it
was really helpful. I now know what I did wrong the other day when I tried
to fill in a background with Copics and everything just went streaky and
horrible :P
@rivergirlre I know what you mean. I would have such a hard time because I
basically NEVER used the chisel nib. When I realized how good it was for
backgrounds it was like a major epiphany.
