A very underrated aspect of Nebraska's resurgence: CU and OU both changed
offenses in the early 90s. Both had comparable talent to Nebraska from
90-94, but the offenses weren't as good as Nebraska's, especially in head
to head matchups.

Conservative, liberal, Democrat or Republican, Oklahoma came with the
afros.....!!!!!!!! (LOL!) And yeah, that clip call was bull! Everyone knew
then, and now, that dude 'clipped' was not catching Billy Sims! (LOL!) And
I didn't realize what I.M stood for, until I looked back at this clip!
(thought I.M. Hipp was just the coolest name in the history of college
footall! LOL!) And Keith Jackson's explanation as to how Hipp got to
Nebraska is classic! The starting lineup with the afros, Keith Jackson,
plus the game, itself, made OU/Nebraska and iconic rivalry!
+B.J. Lai BYU was, then as now, a program capable of being in a power conference. After the Arizona schools left the WAC to join USC and UCLA in the Pac-10, BYU became the dominant force in WAC football, then coached by LaVell Edwards. There are a number of BYU fans who felt they should have been invited to what is now the Pac-12 over Colorado. True, the Buffs used to be decent but have struggled as of late (especially in recent years they have been in the shadow of the Broncos, especially last season when Peyton Manning possibly went out a champion). Colorado was chosen by the Pac because really the Pac felt they only needed one Utah school, and they chose Utah for that purpose because of concerns about including an LDS school in the conference. Utah had made 2 BCS appearances as a member of the WAC's offshoot the MWC, which BYU also competed in at the time. Utah is starting to come into its own as a Pac-12 contender, honestly they were a better team than USC last year but USC got into the conference title game because they beat Utah. BYU Is independent and so has the ability to schedule games across the country, much like Notre Dame (who is one of USC's other rivals), and they try to schedule as many power 5 programs as they can. The 2016 BYU schedule is their toughest as an independent. Meanwhile Colorado is still stuck in the Pac-12 South cellar, sure they could pay good players to come play for them, but look what that did to SMU.In truth, I think BYU is capable of competing in the Big 12 Conference. If the Big 12 should add two more soon, those schools should be BYU and another Western mid-major power, Boise State. That school would be the first former member of the Football Championship Subdivision to join a power 5 league - Boise State was for over 25 years a member of the Big Sky. BSU and BYU are already set to play each other every year OOC for quite a while, and these would be the best programs in a theoretical BIg 12 North Division along with Kansas State and West Virginia in some years. Under an 8-game format, BSU and BYU would only have to play 3 of the powerhouses from the South Division every year.UCLA-USC has aired on ABC the past 3 years, but last year it was not shown on ABC In all of the country, part of the country got the game on ESPN 2 while UNC-NC State aired on ABC in that part of the country (where UCLA-USC was on ABC, the ACC game was on ESPN 2). BYU televises most of its home games on the ESPN networks as well, occasionally appearing on ABC. That network hasn't done a game from Provo, though since 2012. BYU appeared in 3 ABC games last year, 2 road games against B1G teams and the Las Vegas Bowl against rival Utah. The only win in those 3 games was against Nebraska, who made history last year as one of the first 5-7 teams to receive an APR-based waiver to appear in a bowl game when not enough 6-win teams were available.
+daniel anderson Back in those days, since the tv rights are controlled by the NCAA, they want to limit the teams appearances as to protect the stadium attendances from interfering their appearances on television. At the same time, they want to promote amateurism, as well. Since the sport has evolved big time, the universities started to question the NCAA's influence on tv; thus, Oklahoma and Georgia filed a complaint to the Supreme Court. They found out that the NCAA violated the anti-trust laws. After the decision has been struck down, college football games can be seen on cable with no restrictions and they are now able to showcase good teams, regardless of the number of appearances. They could appear in 3, 4, 5 or more times, instead of showing the games on local tv. I hope that answers your question.
+daniel anderson well Keith Jackson just answered my question.. since both teams had been on twice ABC could not show that game on the full network but they could show it on KABC as a "exception" telecast while the rest of the network got BYU/SDSU
