Is the reference to your roots in ravalbindi an association with Farsi or Persian people? if so then it's not a region of Persian ethnic group settlement, language or culture, though it is not far from Khyber pakhtoon khwa which is home to the iranic pashtoons, but itself is mainly and Indian culture and race region

Indian dresses are not part of Afghan CULTURE. yes some people wear them at times, but when we talk about culture, we all know what cultural Afghan clothing looks like. And I'm not judging them for it? I love Indian music too, and arabic, and English so on. What I meant by my question is, if the Sikhs/Hindus in Aghanistan came from India. Because that would explain the cultural difference. We have many ethnic groups in Afghanistan, and maybe their ethnicity is punjabi or Indian. Just curious.

Yeah but the traditions of what:P Afghans never wore that kind've clothing, even when it was a majority buddhist/somewhat hindu area. I'm not even sure if our ancestors WERE hindu or bhuddist :/ I mean the Persians of Afghanistan had that zoori..something religion. I duno -_- I always thought the AFghan Hindus just came from India generations back, so now they're Afghans but they still keep their indian traditions

Im not targetting anything. You obviously didn't read my comment :/ And if the clothing is hindu tradition, how come the indian muslims, sikhs, hindus, pakis and pretty much all the brown countries wear the same tpe of clothing :/ I think its more national or cultural than relegious

I love all my Afghans. But I do have a question, I don't mean no disrespect by this Im just wondering. Why do Afghan Hindus/Sikhs follow Indian tradition/clothing/music ? Like I never would have known they were Afghans if it weren't for the title :/

@homayunj - Afghanistan was an extremely successful country when the Hindus and Sikhs were there. They represented honesty, trust, and world relations. Unless there is the Hindu and Sikh presence in the county, the country will never see the light.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Don't know why people are getting so defensive..lol all Afghans have different ethnicities, and if theirs is some INdian/Punjabi or whatever else, thats perfectly fine.

Something like a wedding is where things are actually cultural though right. Everyday random stuff doesn't really matter. THey're afghans, why do they dress in saaris and dance to Indian music :S

Most of the Afghan Hindu or Sikh ladies wear Punjabi clothes during weddings or other religious functions, however at other times they wear whatever is comfortable and appropriate.
