This is a great program. I have lost 35 lbs and I owe my success to the
strategies I learned in ESMMWL and the support of the community. I know I
can maintain my new weight because the strategies work, and they are pretty
simple. All I had to do was learn to pay attention to the foods I choose,
and keep moving at my own pace. It is a totally enjoyable and do-able
program.
Thank you so much for your very kind comment!! We are so happy to hear that
ESMM Weigh Less helped you to be INCREDIBLY succesfful!! :) Congratulations
to you and we wish you well as you continue your journey of a healthy
lifestyle!!

The Eat Less Move More MYTH
My "About Me" page: //www.stopbeingconfusedabouthealth.com/about/ The social experiment I cite: ...
+drewlikesrice I was on a raw vegan diet and ate till I was very full physically. Eat more carbohydrates would make me feel bad. I know what my body wants and it isn't more carbohydrates. Calories are important but the idea of forcing yourself to eat more carbs like some vegans recommend isn't good advice. It might work for people who do better on a high carb diet but I eventually get sick of eating carbs and meat satiates me.
Avi, I appreciate your input on the dialogue of health. I have gone through
this exact same thing - worrying about what is or is not healthy. What's
funny is even though when I see myself moving to a more healthful state, I
sometimes have anxiety about the foods my body wants or craves. And, I see
this in a lot of people too. I'm not an athlete but I would imagine it's
analogous to a marathon runner beating his/herself up about not sprinting
the whole race - not entirely a good example because, as you mention,
health is an internal state, not a destination.
Miss you IRL :)
+Michael Jamshidi MISS YOU TOO. Let's google hangout soon with osheen. Yea my objective is to address this issue seriously. I don't know exactly how common it is...even the CDC doesn't. But it's only going to get more common. I had the same anxiety and I'm working with someone with that anxiety now. What helped my anxiety was knowing that my health was getting worse consuming a diet that looked great on paper. As I mention in today's video, I came across a paper showing that inflammation increased following a low-glycemic load diet in normal weight individuals. //www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22190020But they didn't talk about that too much; the focus was on the overweight people who had decreased inflammation. Not sure how much more research like this there is but this summer I slowly plan to find out.
Interesting! I agree, eat less/move more isn't necessarily true. I've
noticed that when I haven't eaten as much fruit throughout the day, I'll
start to crave brownies/cookies/vegan ice cream more than on days where I
have a fruity breakfast. In general, when I haven't eaten enough throughout
the day, I'll start craving junk food. But there's nothing in processed
food that you can't get from whole foods. Fruits and veggies aren't
calorically dense so eat your starches to get the calories that you need.
Just eat enough during the day and those cravings go away.
+Mimi Christopher Same here. That's true there's nothing you can't get, but sometimes the extra calories boosts your metabolism. When I just eat whole foods I get full faster and eat less calories and lately haven't felt as energized. For me personally that's not the healthiest option right now because I have restricted my calories doing that for a long time. So when I add juice or ice cream I get more calories and it helps with energy.
