Well, it´s time for another warship, this time it´s the World of Warships Tier X German Heavy Cruiser Hindenburg and my Aircraft Carrier IJN Kirin. So, for those ...
+Gabriel Wong Thanks! And i´m currently making many more warships :D

NCA Prinz Eugen VS Iowa BB
A true fight between the Iowa and a heavy cruiser. If i can make better videos i will upload them. This is just a test video. The video was recorded wrong. But the ...
@TacairStationHQ Your "gut" is right. Those 16/50 guns are the second most
powerful guns in WW2 combined with the best Radar Gun Control system. The
Armour on the Iowa would be great at close range. But then as i said its an
escort ship or fast battleship. Not really meant to fight unless it had to.
If it were to be reactivited in a modern war it would need a new triple
bottom, it was not on the list of being important in damage. Nowadays we
all use torpedoes that detonate beneath the hull.
@G777GUN Very interesting, thanks for the insight. Without having
experience, my gut would be to agree that some kind of modification could
have been warranted to offensive battle armaments as offset to armor
disadvantages. As is usually the case when a ship is initially being
designed, it is designed with the view taken that it constitutes the
optimal design configuration and makeup. Then within a short matter of
time, many undergo various revisions as they rapidly become less relevant.
@TacairStationHQ The lighter the guns, the better the weight. Makes a ship
go faster with better the range. ? One ship i have not shown to ANYONE yet
is my KG6. It was created on Xplane. The gun change. Is this for an idea to
rebuild the Iowa guns in modern times. Because the 14 inchers (Cant say on
YT, somone might take my idea). Anyway i would say 14 inchers. Yep. Plus it
will give you faster reload rate and ncreased range. Now for secondarys you
will have to really think of this.
@TacairStationHQ Well first. The Iowas armour design not good for combat,
the older ships like the South Dakota had much better design for battling
warships. Iowa's are designed to keep up with carriers. Heavy escorts
capable of long range. Which is good. I can modify but i cant make these
ships unfortunatly. I could give Iowa the Yamato 18 inchers or smaller 14
inchers and give them a longer barrel, or just give the Iowas a crap load
of 155mms. Unfortunatly there are no missiles.
@trent8002003 Yeah your right. But then I couldnt make shell splashes, I
would of like to make a Yamato shell splash but even if I could make shell
splashes, a shell splash for each different size of shell would take too
long. Still, gun data was modified, so was ship structure to add to
realism. See how PE turned to avoid the 5 inch shell splashes and how Iowa
turned to starboard after being hit a few times portside. If one 16 inch
landed on PE it would have died.
OK, given it a little research, I will make my best observation and
conjecture on this subject... :) True, even at the expense of something
else, speed can be a big advantage. Incidentally, an ancestor of mine was
the CO of the then, fastest commissioned USN BB Big-Battleship - being all
the hype of the day! Re: a gun change... how about 3x3 14" long barrel +
10x 203mm in lieu of the twin 5 in. + 8x 155mm in lieu of 8 of the
quad-40mm?
@G777GUN Oh sorry sorry. I didn't know you made the entire clip. I thought
it was an extraction from a over the counter video game. In that case, I
have to congratulate you for a gd job done even though as I said, I didn't
quite care for the shell splashes. But the rest of the video was really
professional! PE and Iowa both look very realistic as are the blasts from
the guns.
@G777GUN Oh pleeeease, that's still pretty puny compared to real 16 inch
shell splashes. Besides, 8 inch splashes are quite spectacular as well.
Just look at the Leyte Gulf pics where Japs heavy cruisers were blanketing
US escort carriers with shell splashes. You'll get an idea how big even
cruisers' shell splashes are.
Once in Battlestations Midway I was controlling a heavy cruiser and I saw a
BB coming. I shot at it for a long time since a crossed his T and I had the
upper hand. Then that big BB sank. If your wondering what BB it was it was
the Repulse.
@TacairStationHQ Maybe the shells can be improved. I can do that. I did use
SH4 to test my dual 155mm guns. I used Xplane combined with SH4. I used
Xplane for building the gun while SH4 tests its combat effectivness.
@Toomanyyoshis2 The Yamato had 18 inch guns while the USS Iowa had 16 inch
guns. The Yamato would have fired earlier than the Iowa. USS Iowa would
have been sunk before she got in range.
@trent8002003 At 1:20, the Iowas 16 shell splashes are pretty big, the base
of the shell splash is about the size of turret of the Prinz Eugen. Though
the geyser could have been higher.
Fun looking sim. Can you design your own battle ships in SH?? :) I'm
curious as to what would be your improved armament layout for Iowa,
hypothetically speaking?
