I wonder why he speaking Spanish in this video? I think it's interesting
that most Brazilians can speak Spanish but you don't see many Hispanics
speaking Portuguese
Before the UFC career (in the ultimate fighter) I remember Dana white
saying Roy nelson was only training in his basement.
Wonder if it's true, if so....god damn that
s fascinating.
well,I think you're wrong, just look at the fight with Kimbo during TUF. Kimbo was seen as a street fighting banger and what happened ? RN mounted crucifix and punched him until the ref stopped the fight while Kimbo was clueless. Make no mistake about it, tank would of ended up on his back and most likely submited
+maxjiro25 Think you're missing the point. RN will go to the ground if he has to. If Tank from the 90's and Roy had to fight it would've made for an interesting slugfest
Can anybody confirm if Roy Nelson body type really just comes down to
genetics. I'm thinking about it, even if he didn't watch his weight control
he should still look more ripped to fight with amount of power he has.
+Rob ZA Says the anonymous zilch on youtube. Keep bagging groceries and keep your insolent mouth shut about humans who are orders of magnitude superior to you.
+Protoman It's just bad diet. Roy used to be a lot skinnier if you watch some of his older grappling matches. Fighters are ripped because they put the work in and watch their diet. Genetics only comes in to play at determining what weight class you will fight at when you are at your best. If Roy lost weight he'd be an even better fighter. I definitely think Roy will be a name to remember.
how he looks is both training/diet and genetics. he could slim down some but you can't control where you lose fat. sit ups don't make your have a flat stomach like the commercials say. If he got his fat percentage to go down to what a regular fighter looks like then he would be probably two weight classes lower maybe more. He wouldn't gain that much speed though. Genetically we all have a pretty much set hand/eye coordination its only going to fluctuate a little bit when weight is taken off. So, he's probably way, way, way to slow to fight at a lower weight class. So he's better off in heavy weight where the talent is much lower. It's much lower because there's less large people and so there's less chances of good athletes, much less chances of great athletes and so forth. this is why the best fighters are average human size. it's a little lower because they cut so much weight but you get the idea. just to go on rambling...people are born good punchers or they are not. it's in there with hand/eye coordination. BUT!! unlike speed, punching and taking punches is dramatically effected by the weight of the person, no matter where the weight is. if it's on the stomach, if it's fat on the arms..doesn't matter. this is why it's a big deal when guys come in 10 pounds over weight. This is why there is so little weight between weight classes. 5 extra pounds means throwing harder punches and taking harder shots. Yes, again there is some speed sacrifice but it's not as crucial. Again, that's why making weight is so important and why there's so many weight classes. if there was no weight classes many fighters couldn't take the punch of heavier men and the speed differential would only make enough difference. So if big country lost a bunch of weight but still was in heavy weight he would not have as much power and not be able to take as big of a punch. bad news. and he probably can't gain much more muscle mass without taking roids....so he keeps the fat and lives the good life. Getting 'ripped', being toned, being able to see muscles, is not about having muscles or being strong, it's about having a very low fat percentage. But it's also hard to get a that fat percentage really low while still maintaining muscle. the body uses muscle for calories before it uses fat. That's why guys get phd's in nutrition and body building and they still argue and change views on what's best.
