+Rudderify - Joe, We discovered that the wheels weren't seating well and with a substantial amount of hammering, they stopped making the noise I was hearing. I am planning to replace them with new higher quality wheels, so I can eliminate one source of ratating noise. There is still a clunk when starting out in gear both forward and reverse, so I am now looking at U-joints or my Diff may be poorly shimmed? I don't really know yet, but I am working on it.
Jaguar 3.8 E-Type brake servo linkage rebuild Part 2
details of the parts for the linkage in a '63 3.8 L Jaguar E-type brake linkage. There are a few special parts here that took some hinting to track down.
@satajet883 Rich, thanks - that is a GREAT suggestion and I would have not
thought of it so thanks a million. I am pretty sure I'm going to remove the
copper and replace it - have had an email from a fellow Jag restorer in the
SF Bay Area who owns a machine shop and he offered to make a sleeve from
stainless for me. I'm driving up there this morning and will video the
process to ammend to this video series.
@RZGOBLIN Thanks - I hope I can continue to post videos that will help
others. Welcome to the You Tube Garage Gang! THere are a few others who are
restoring cars that post regular videos, check into some of my
subscriptions to see if anything is of interest too.
Great attention to detail. On the small chance of a galvanic corrosion
issue with the Steele bolt going through a copper sleeve. Maybe a coat of
never-seize or even nolox ( for aluminum electrical connections). Or just a
dab of grease. Just thinking lol.
Apart from the brake lines and one locking tab to close the rear brakes are done, I will be testing the brakes out before the IRS goes back in to the car as intend ...
Bettie my 1963 Jaguar E-Type Restoration - Brake lines and Water transfer pipes installed
Installed the brake lines on the front and water transfer pipes.
Forgive my ignorance John..But I would have thought the "hot" water inlet
to the heater core would have entered from the lower section and exited
from the upper one just like a radiator does but I'm not familiar the
E-type setup..BTW...We use those terms too..near side and off side...Can
you guess why.?.If the brake kit is road legal,I'd make that fit...Loved
the viv mate...All my thumbs are up.
Hi Bud, they arent peculiar to Jags, yep I reckon I've used copper brake
pipes for 30yrs in the UK, they're quite malleable if thats the right word,
good for pig-tails for clutch lines, personally i prefer cupronickel but
are stiffer to shape, Sorry to hijack Johns comment! Cheers Scott
Yeah Automec are the pipe people, I always used to use them until I got a
flaring tool!! Glad you got the brass union on :-) Those heater pipes in
the bulkhead are a pain in the rear!!!!! Bettie is looking very
nice.....especially with that brake union!!! lol
Ruben, to be honest I don't know. Neil (Danelectro68) used them for his
tR5, and Scott (TTCOS11) also said they are still in business, so I suspect
these are available as an option but maybe price causes folks to stay with
zinc plated steel tube lines.
Always a good idea to dry/test fit the parts that need to fit properly and
also you will have them found and know where they are when you need to
install them into the car. Coming along real nicely. Keep us up to date.
Cheers OLDDUDE
Ziggy, I actually have no idea of the flow, but I assumed that the on/off
heater valve wouldbe on the inlet. COuld be the other way around though.
What does nearside and offside mean in relation to the driver/passenger
terminology?
It all started from the mounting side of a horse.."near side"(left
side).when they put a buggy/wagon behind it the left side was called the
near side too..and so on when the horseless carriage "automobile" came on
the scene.
High John yep Automec still doing it! Beds is short for Bedfordshire, they
have a youtube channel user/AutomechOnline, and attend all the shows I go
to. The progress your'e making is great to watch.
Glad to see you got that pipe to fit in there with out to much fettling lol
Copper brake lines, is that a commen thing with Jaguar's? Not sure I've
seen that before! Keep up the good work :)
John I didn't know you were a plumber as well as a car restorer !!
Brake & Fuel pipe bending & Flaring E Type jaguar
A few tips & tricks that i have picked up after finishing the fuel line from the tank to the fuel filter and carbs, it is so easy to damage the copper pipe if not bent ...
Jaguar E-Type Emerg brake lever disassembly.AVI
I take the emergency brake lever apart to get the chrome parts ready for re-chroming. This was not a simple job!
I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Jag Engine in
good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil
/ fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets,
rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those
vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves
and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :)
Also keeps carbs and tank clean and rustfree

IMHO You obviously got the money, but do you really love those wheels?
Wires are so Jaguar, I can not image this car without them. Love the
interior. Although a more period steering wheel would great, like stock,
maybe stock with thicker wood, or a smaller diameter stock design with
thicker wood and especially the stock center. (owner of 62 xke fixedhead,
ya I've done a little car designing too, ask Tom Gale)
Dreadful. The aesthetics have been completely ruined. The ridiculously
large alloys are completely out of character and at odds with the beautiful
lines of the E. What were you thinking?! This is the equivalent of seeing
Her Majesty the Queen in a black tracksuit & Nike Air training shoes!
FUBAR.
This is the 6th and final video I made of my Saturday workign in the garage to remove and reinstall the brake calipers on my Jaguar Differential, as I work to ...
I tell you what i want john......some of that beautiful sunshine, do you
know what, just watching that warmed my heart!!!!! I like the driveway, I
had a friend who had that done, and he swore by it, no weeds at all, and a
nice rustic look, it's very nice
The flag stone is beautiful. I like your idea of the ground cover between
the concrete squares for the parking area. It will make the area cooler on
the cars without the radiant heat off of the concrete hitting them. Thanks
for the videos.
@satajet883 Thanks, we've been working on the house little by little over
the last 15 years. If you saw what it looked like when we purchased this
house you'd really see a lot fo changes.
