I used to go see this guy years ago in Houston. He lead a number of really great bands- 5am, pitbull and my personal favorite.the slashers! A bluesy, fusion, scorching rock kind of thing. They would still be relevant today. Just absolutely killer. This guy is the real deal. He truly can do it all- a real master. John held the standards very high for guitar players when he was in Houston. Im glad to see that hes still making a meaningful contribution to music.

Make sure you pick up the VOLTO! CD that just came out. Outstanding stuff. I too was a JZ devotee in Houston years ago. I LOVED the Slashers as well. Never knew who was going to be on stage! I even took lessons from John at Rockin Robin for awhile. I've never gotten to his level though. He still astounds me with his range and versatility.
