Steering does lack feel altho the ride bearable, no deal breaker. I didnt
get a chance to really put my foot down. Interior fittings -
plastics/buttons were nicer than in my friends C class, the 'metal'
switches i think are actually metallized coated plastic. Dash is lovely,
head up is my fav feature and i wd have to have this if I buy one.. it
didnt have the watch strap leather but standard leather. Considering this
car was fresh in and the dealer offered 8k off list without haggling.. not
bad
1stly how big car do you need? And what`s wrong withC4? It`s in many ways
even more special than the DS5 - the design of the dashboard (digital
instrument cluster in the middle, special steering wheel) nice compromise
between comfort and sportiness - what more do you want? If you want a 4x4
Evoque is the way to go I just love the whole car. Way better looking car
than an Audi Q3 or an BMW X3 and is better off road. C-Crosser and the new
smaller C4 Aircross are also an option.˙I`ll contact you.
Steering was made that way on purpose not because of lacking knowledge -
DS3 & DS4 are the proof. They tried and succeded in making the car feel
sporty so steering lacking feel is puzzling to me(settings). But other than
that it`s ok. The quality of materials is awesome and I think they didn`t
just metallized coated plastic but they replaced it with metal alltogether.
Engines I`d definatelly go for either 1.6 THP (200 BHP) or 2.0 Hdi (163
BHP). Both with 6 speed manual gearbox. And you?
my main impression is that Citroen dealers are treating this car as a bit
of a white elephant, they were happier trying to intro me to the new
Picasso.. The car itself was a hybrid dsport in white w black leather. The
driving position is snug but very comfortable. My head was quite close to
the roof and it was too late to fiddle with the seat height. The window and
door pillars do make it feel like sitting in something other than a car.
Its my first try in a hybrid so it was unusual!
my feeling is Citroen won't do a midlife upgrade on this car, it will
probably disappear quietly like the Renault Avantime. This wd be a shame
because with a few improvements this car wd be on another level. if they cd
improve the steering, develop some dampers like on the Evoque or soften the
suspension abit (its not a sports car), tweak the gearbox software and
redesign the rear seats with deeper cushions to give an inch more
headroom(and help with knee room)
The auto diesel 2.0 initially looks the obvious choice but the manual
version offers far better performance/economy and is in a better (UK)road
tax bracket because its more efficient. I don't know, maybe citroen need to
remap the settings for the auto box. Therefor I wd probably take a gamble
on the hybrid... altho i have heard of some reliability issues - wd be good
to get feedback from owners on here.
Yeah I know and was just kidding. And I have another lets call it half joke
- the DS5 is the best in class because it`s the only one :))) Which is
partly true. OK on the serius side it has so much equipment and is
pratically space ship on wheels. Good luck with your CLS and you can still
buy the DS5 as a 2nd car in the family. :)
I always have a second car and I'm actually thinking of replacing it, right
now its the older Citroen C4. I have to tell you though I am a Mercedes
fanatic. Might go for something like an Evoque, a 4x4 would be nice. Do you
have any suggestions aside from the DS5?
What a Brilliant car. I would have loved to have bought this as a family
car. I can't now though as I bought the new Mercedes CLS. Still, this car
is one to keep an eye out for!
Haha come on now, you're going to have to admit the CLS is a better car -
it's in a more premium class than the DS5. I agree that the DS5 is the best
in its class though.
The Volvo V40 cross country, this and the Evoque are on my shortlist, i
think The DS5 you can't really compare to another car, after sitting in it
and driving it
