When you reheat you do need to add a small amount of water. However, the trick to leftover peas & bean reheating is very, very low heat or microwaving to avoid water.
Okay... Since you shared your onion soup mix, I will share mine. Ranch
Hidden Valley Ranch Dip. I wish I can share my fried chicken recipe with
you. Oh... I just did. Lol... and cayanne pepper with pepper, that's it.
Thank you Chris.
Good recipe! But it's Camellia brand beans, like the Camellia flower. NOT
Camilla, the wife of Prince Charles, Duchess of Cornwall. I've got some
fresh peas in my icebox, you motivated me to cook them right now!
+Foods101withDeronda I did just what I said I would, pretty girl. I used bacon strips, two white onions, and those fresh peas. Overnight in the slow cooker. Two meals today and a quart Mason jar for leftovers. Our Lord is so good to us!
Hi Jazmine, To answer your question...I use Italian seasoned sausage to flavor Black Eyed Peas!! Although, any seasoned meat will work! ENJOY!! -Deronda :)
Welcome & bunches of thanks...Neal. Great to meet & get to know you at DFW!! I don't think you'll be disappointed with these homemade Black Eyed Peas!! Wishing you all the best in the NEW YEAR!! -Deronda :)
Great stovetop recipe, and I am abandoning my crock-pot way of making them,
however. Even though I had one 1lb bag of peas, and added 8 cups of water
(followed directions essentially, lol), I had to vent the lid of my pot
because the condensation I thought was adding more water to it, is that
right?
Hi Aka, Bunches of thanks & I'm not sure what you mean by "followed directions essentially". Measuring out the correct amount of ingredients (including water) for this recipe has always created the perfect pot of Black Eyed Peas for me. Leaving the lid tightly attached to the rim of the pot, during simmering, is important so that the dried Peas can absorb liquid & flavors as they cook. If the lid is vented during cooking time the Black Eyed Peas can become too dry...due to water vapor loss!! Wishing you all the best in the NEW YEAR!! ENJOY!! -Deronda :)
Fresh Black Eyed Peas are BEST...Dude!! If you must use canned...season with sauteed minced onion & garlic!! Wishing you all the best in the NEW YEAR!! -Deronda :)
WOW, LOVE BLACKEYE PEAS AND CORNBREAD. I CAN EAT THAT ALL DAY LONG.

All I have to say is too much Salt my brotha... The Chicken Broth has salt,
and when you add the Ham Hocks they have salt, bouillon cubes have salt
too. To much salt!!! Try it with Smoked Turkey next time and see if you
like it that way. Just sayin'... No shade to you.

Tips for Cooking With Black-Eyed Peas
Black-eyed peas are a delicious Southern staple when prepared correctly, but they can be tricky to work with for a newcomer. Here are some tips for cooking ...
just learned, & tested use a pressure cooker, , wash-rinse, optional- soak
for 15-30 min-max. rinse, pressure cook for about 6 minutes to 8 minutes
max. , rinse-,optional, season eat, optional-simmer in pot for maybe 2
minutes with seasoning?, . any extra cooking turns them to 'mush' like
dogfood, regards,
i opened a can and put it on a frying pan because i thought they were beans
till i remebered they where black eyed, and i know there are not beans
named that so yeh, now i got to now how i am going eat them.
