That is not a wild owl..!! He is raised by the hand, so he isn't wild and he's never been wild before. I have owls too but I think it's no good for the owl that you can buy them in a pet shop, there is too much light and less space. They do that so the owl will stay calm, if the lights go out, the owl will start flying and than nobody wants to buy him anymore. It is kind a large owl to sell in a pet shop, there are very much small owls too, my scops (dwarf owl) lives in our livingroom for free

@LadyLatias Yes you are right, but the registered breeder has the right papers and the breeder can sell his animals to te petshop. The petshop gets the registration papers of the animal AND a paper to proof that he bought the animal from a registered breeder. The breeder has to have a copy of the paper too. So you are allowed as a pet shop to sell exotic animals, only when you have the right papers. If you don't have the papers when they come for a control, you can say byebye to your petshop

I RAise DOVES.. They were Wild Bird Rehabilitation Rescues, One White male & One Asiatic Rineck female descendant from South Africa. The female just passed away from old age I can't keep them next to a window cause a draft can make them sil YET They have to get enough sunshine to get the Vitamin D they need to be healthy. . These Birds are so exotic & it's very sad to see. Yes it's another WTF moment in Japan 4SURE! HARDCORE!

@uilofiel By law, you aren't allowed to sell wild animals anyway, aren't you? It's considered poaching. You have to be a registered breeder or have been sold the animal by a registered breeder (If you work in a pet store) to sell them.

well i might be speaking of ignorance, since i dont really know anything about birds. But why is it okey to have other animals caged, even other exotic ones, but owls are no no? Dont tell me "because they are beautiful" :S

lol can't believe someone would pay 9000 for that owl, it would probably be dead in 2 weeks from captivity. Not to mention the captivity it's already been in trapped in that small box store windows , good lord

What would I do with an owl? I would train it to deliver letters, duh. Thats so awesome though, I would LOVE to have a bird of prey. Given that I had the right space and equipment to care for it...

ehhh....its a pet owl bred in captivity, why would call it a "wild" owl? Also you keep it as a pet. what would you do with a dog or a cat? they are both predators

I agree...I don't know much about birds, but I do know that those are beautiful wild animals that shouldn't be kept in little cages. Sad stuff :(
