Your flat twist out looks great! I can't flat twist for anything lol! I use
flat "rolls" :) I'm working on flat twisting. One day I'll get
it....hopefully. Practice, practice, and patience! LOL
Yes! Thanks for this! I have some skinny long scarves and I've been needing
help tying them in different ways lol. I've tried a similar look before but
yours is way neater. lol
Sorry for the long video, I tried to edit it as much as possibly. Also I apologize for all the background noises, my window was open :)nI forgot to come back and do ...
My hair was dry. You can achieve this style either way I just hate doing my
hair wet because when it dry it kind of tighten up. I sprayed the bangs
with water before placing the rods in.
Yes I have. I have a big chop video on my channel. After my BC, I also did
another 1/2 inch cut again. I believe my hair has a natural curly texture
at the ends similar to my younger daughter. To see her hair, check out my
blog discoveringnatural com or videos in the kids playlist here on my
channel.
+Rey Sosa Yeah, I was saying that in my post on Google+ and we discussed that in other comments. :) I only forgot that I used to use flax seed gel. I haven't done frequent flat twist outs in so long that I forgot what I used to use.
Oh, I just remembered! I used to get better flat twist out results when I
was using flaxseed gel. Talking to +TheBlackHairDiary about "defining
cream/butter" and watching liquidgoldeyes's video (
//youtu.be/FqtgPoRnLIg) jogged my memory. lol Thanks, ladies! A
product with hold will help to reduce the frizziness at the ends when
you're flat twisting on damp hair that has not already been stretched. :)
+TheBlackHairDiary You're welcome! Yes your description makes perfect sense! I just put some loose chucky twist in the front of my hair Christmas day because I didn't have time to flat twist that section and I love em, the fullness! I usually twist tightly and closely because I want to twists to last longer but these seem to be holding up well!! Haha yes you ladies are getting me good with these acronyms!! :)
Hello Lol I'm just catching up on these comments time difference. You're both are most welcome. +kerducky Thank you, the pic in my avi I did chunky twist on weeks old hair I had experimented on no heat blow out, stretch hair. Hope that makes sense. It gave me that fluffy, soft definition I like. Lolololol on the acronyms +MsThickHair I gave away that a forum poster as well, darn it tehehe
+TheBlackHairDiary Thank you so much for the great tips because I do love the way my hair feels with the flaxseed gel! I probably should get over my fear of the icky and just make my own flaxseed gel so I can have more control over the consistency! The Shea Moisture brand that I mentioned in my 1st comment, has agave nectar, coconut oil hibiscus and one other ingredient that I can't recall right now...but it's quite a thick gloopy gel! Thanks again for you feedback I really do appreciate it, I like to learn new things about products and our hair...and speaking of hair your hair is ULTRA thick! For a moment when I got the notification I thought Marley Ms.ThickHair herself had changed her profile pic! FABULOUS twists girl I love the thickness!Girl forgive me but what does "HTH" mean? I'm horrible wit the acronyms?! (,<_>)
+kerducky Hey There :) What I find with flaxseed gel to rid of that flatness which I'm not for as I like big, voluminous hair. Make it light as in thinner. So use less flaxseed with a good amount of water. Or boil it for less time - doing this will not cause too much of the mucilage to be released. The thinner the gel the better and a softer hold/fatter twists you should get if you want to use it on your twists. Also you can store the seeds for about a week or so in the fridge and use again. Plus you can had add a few bits to your gel to get even more moisture to your twist which can cause them to swell. I.E Glycerin or Panthenol (Vitamin B5) are humecant, honey or agave nectar are also humecants that should take away from the flatness. Add oils of your choice and everything should balance out nicely. Remember in all of this measurement is key! HTH
+TheBlackHairDiary Hello TheBlackHairDiary! Flaxseed gel left my hair moisturized from roots to tips like never before! I mean I went 4 days without adding anything, could have problem made it to 5! The only reason why I don't use it every time I style my hair is because I wear 2 strand twists a lot and the flaxseed gel sort of takes away any volume in my twists, my twists are more flat looking, they don't swell up! But I do love it, love it!
+TheBlackHairDiary I may do an update. It may be later in 2015 or so though because flat twists are troublesome on freshly washed hair due to the time consumption and it's hard to catch myself doing any kind of flat twist while the laptop is in reach to record it (that's why this one's so late). lol I'll let you know. ☺ Have a good night.
Absolutely, flaxseed and seal with your shea cream is another option. Moisture, hold, definition and shine. Both are economical and are natural also. I've used flaxseed, it's quick and easy to make and my results were phenomenal.Glad I could help in some way (memory jog), please do an update when you do try something different to achieve better definition. TIA.
+kerducky Yes, it's very interesting how the weather can affect something like that. lol I love flax seed gel. It's fun to make, it works well, and is healthy. :)
Oh I completely agree! Flaxseed gel(Shea Moisture brand) is my new friend, the SHINE, HOLD & DEFINITION was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! The only thing is 2 out of the 3 benefits are apparent for me in the Winter or colder months only! I found out this past summer, my hair "SWELLS" and doesn't hold!
