Adventure/Hunt finished. Total of two weeks in the mountains, 9 days in the Tyvek tent. The cheap barrier zipper I taped/glued in broke on the 8th day. Encountered substantial frost in the second outing, but it slipped off the tent and caused no trouble. Final observations, tent design is excellent, but at a little over 6ft tall, fit was snug. I would increase all dimensions by a foot, (305mm) if I build another. Washing the Tyvek twice (without soap) in a machine, made the tent quiet, even in wind. All taped seams held tight and did not leak, for Tyvek, taping performed superior to sewing. I would post a write up and pictures over at MYOG, if there was a way to share without paying.

Very cool thats part of the fun finding the materials :)

+Tac Blades Years ago, I worked on a construction crew and installed Tyvek. I know that more often than not pieces big enough for one of your designs triangles are left over. I look up the new construction permits in my area find some near the Tyvek stage and drive about. It took a few outings to get all the Tyvek. I went at the end of the workday and kept a few beers ready. I need to make another tent a little bigger to feel confident using the small ammo can wood stove I recently finished. (I built the stove to use on this last trip, but it was not cold enough and I didn't install a stove jack in the tent. I did manage to get a tent stove jack for free from a guy who is scared of asbestos) I think on your side of the ocean, I'm a bodger.Right now, I am looking for some old glass wood stove doors to get the glass to install into the sides of the ammo can. I like the soft light and feel of a fire, but will not attempt an open fire in a Tyvek tent. I will keep looking through the scrap yards for high temp glass. I might ditch the ammo can and build my own can out of aluminum or a light weight alloy (If I can find some salvage)When you want cheap or free, getting material takes time.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Tac Blades You give me too much credit. It is your design and I'll stick with Tyvek. I can usually source it for free :)

Hi, I came here from your MYOG post on this tent. Using your designs (THANK YOU), I used Tyvek for the material, double sided carpet tape for the seams and glued/carpet taped and gorilla taped 30 inches of nylon strapping at the top end and bottom end of each seam (the 1 inch nylon strap runs along the seam and then hangs over six inches at the top and bottom. Made a loop at the bottom, used Shoe Goo and a pop rivet to hold the loop together for a place to put a stake) And a upside down funnel for a rain cap. The whole thing was under 30 USD. I am leaving Wednesday for a week in the mountains. Couldn't have pulled it together so fast if it wasn't for your instructions. (I even made my own pre construction paper models, like yours) Thanks again

Came into town for laundry and a shower. Last 4 nights solo in the tyvek mid at 9500ft. Temps in the teens (f). One sleet storm with 30mph winds. And the tent held up GREAT. I put logs around the outside perimeter for a windbreak. The only weight measurement so far is tent with pole.stakes.groundcloth and bag is 4lbs i dont have video .but took some pics.with my phone. Im going back up, good day

Fantastic. Beautiful design. I feel the same way about buying and seeing other designs. I learn tons.
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-_1ZDHguxAA4/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAM8/4VV7EgYqVns/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Nature Calls hand made in UK quality is really expensive, buying small amount of fabric etc is very expensive. If people want price then buy mass produced, if custom design and quality is important then go cottage industry route, but when money it tight its not so easy.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-ON3mW6Vy3Bw/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAJg/FLIal7q4770/photo.jpg?sz=64
I have watched the whole vid now, My first comment I had to make just because I like the design so much.  I enjoyed listening to all your thoughts. I am just starting out and heard a lot of the same thinking going on. I am asked too but it is so expensive to the end user.  I appreciate listening and look forward to the next outing.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Czx0oOwuaoM/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAo0/ULO6fOE3E1E/photo.jpg?sz=64
I think they stopped making them a year ago. I never used mine as a tarp and cut off the extra panel. But this would be great for hammock camping if you had to go to ground. The socks...I'm 40. I figure from here on out I could wear argyle and a kilt if I really wanted. No fashion trending here. LOL.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-ON3mW6Vy3Bw/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAJg/FLIal7q4770/photo.jpg?sz=64
Hey Kdawg, just picked up a transform, thank you for the great video. I can see tons of uses for this already. Take care Bruce

Your very welcome. I cut the extra flap off mine to make a permanent pyramid and cut off almost 8 oz. of weight. The extra flap made it difficult to use the zipper door. I'm sure I'll regret doing that later down the road. But it's a great shelter. It's huge and quick to set up.

The shape you have made on the ground is an isosceles triangle. A pyramid has four equal sides and half that for the height.
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-vE3nlRILvqc/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAE4/sgo6ZmX3XNc/photo.jpg?sz=64
Ha ha, you're right.
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-S_ZSlB3Xepw/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAD3g/LaZ2U32tIls/photo.jpg?sz=64
How's ventilation/condensation underneath it? Thanks for sharing!
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-vE3nlRILvqc/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAE4/sgo6ZmX3XNc/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Fabio Spelta I think it will be the same set up process just a little higher.
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-S_ZSlB3Xepw/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAD3g/LaZ2U32tIls/photo.jpg?sz=64
+phrayzar Thanks, do you think that it will be much harder to put in place rather than the way you pictured? I have a really scarce experience with tarps and I can't figure it out. Guess I should just give it a try.
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-vE3nlRILvqc/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAE4/sgo6ZmX3XNc/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Fabio Spelta I think that would be the perfect set up. It would let ventilation occur.
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-S_ZSlB3Xepw/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAD3g/LaZ2U32tIls/photo.jpg?sz=64
+phrayzar Thank you very much for your reply! Just wondering, would it be hard to set up the tarp so that it's closed by all sides BUT that allows ventilation underneath? I am thinking about something that looks like your tent-setup, but rather than being pegged straight into the ground, that has some loops of cord (like, 3-5" - 10-15 cm) going from the tarp loops to the ground. I hope what I have in mind is clear (and feasible). :)Thank you!
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-vE3nlRILvqc/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAE4/sgo6ZmX3XNc/photo.jpg?sz=64
this set up will definitely get lots of condensation. It's just an option for very bad weather. Thanks for watching and commenting

Hi There. Thanks for the video. I am allergic to latex and plastic and am looking at canvas for tenting full time for two months this summer. I am on a very tight budget, so painter's tarps are a great idea! Obviously I'd need a bottom and enclosed/door option. Do you have any ideas or links for that kind of thing?
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-1jr4L_Ft9f0/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAGo/EcDUz1Eh844/photo.jpg?sz=64

+hiraethchild sorry about the multiple posts but my android keyboard and tablet combo does not play well with copy and paste such as the links. This is the condo tent. You would add your own seperate floor to thisif you wanted a floor https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLqBaiFEllM.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-uDNF7DEsCvM/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAA8/C6LxIN5h0wM/photo.jpg?sz=64
+hiraethchild Here is the video I was telling you about . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNUYFViOoUo here is another layout that you may like as well. this uses 2 tarps face to face to make one large "condo" tent.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-uDNF7DEsCvM/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAA8/C6LxIN5h0wM/photo.jpg?sz=64
+hiraethchild Yes I just happen to have a video that demos just what you may be looking for. The video is here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRBtof2pAqI This layout though uses up a lot of your tarp to give you a floor. In other words, if you could do with a floor, or if you used a seperate floor, you could end up with a lot more space in your tent. You might also be able to use a different tarp layout which I demo in a different video whis is basically the same as the tarp layout in this video except it has closable doors for privacy. I will post the link to that video in another reply to follow this one.

+Far North Bushcraft And Survival Thanks for another very helpful video, Lonnie. I do have a sewing hint for you: 1. Fold the raw edge of the fabric over once (about 1/4 inch) and then fold it over again. 2. Pin well to hold everything in place. 3. Stitch close to the first fold, being careful to not run the machine over the pins. This will prevent further fraying, make your finished product looked more "finished" and best of all, will save you the cost and inconvenience of using any of the various chemicals suggested by others. P.S. I was glad to see in the comments that you decided to buy the Fiberglas fabric by the yard! :-)

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-uDNF7DEsCvM/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAA8/C6LxIN5h0wM/photo.jpg?sz=64
+umbongoapg Using the chimney as the center pole should work fine but it would be too hot to hang clothes on safely. Also a person would have to fabricate a metal stove jack for the peak instead of the soft foldable packable stove jack that I made.
