Turning an Old Laptop Screen Into a DIY Video Light
Inspired by recent "Fake window -light" video, made by Matt at DIY-Perks channel, I finally hacked an old netbook screen into a portable light panel. Be sure to ...
+Rich kim I'd say you should watch DIY Perks' video (link in the description), especially from 3m19s onwards. If I was to make video where I show setting up the connections with a USB-plug, I would say the same things, with just few modifications:- Make sure to check that the backlight circuit uses 5V for both, power and signals, by Googling with screen's model number- No need for the two resistors, connect PWM and LED_EN pins as well as the VLED pin to red wire of USB-cable.-Connect GND to black wire of the USB-cable.Me making a new video about that wouldn't give much new information and I'm short on time at the moment, so unfortunately I won't be making that video, sorry.
+Rich kim Thanks! The red PCB and the battery I'm using are essentially same thing as the yellow power bank, but without a plastic case. I connected positive and negative wires from USB-port throught a switch to the backlight circuit's positive and negative pins. I also needed to connect the "enable"-pin of the backlight to 5V (positive wire coming from USB).As my screen's backlight uses 5V, I could power it from any USB-port that provides enough current (600mA in my case).
