I built this 270w DIY CFL Grow Light for just $52, and I've made a little tutorial video to show you how to build it yourself. The parts list: Old bathroom Cabinet ...
It can be done for about $50 but you are going to be wiring it yourself and
most people will calculate resistor values wrong for current since LED's
are semiconductors granted, this is doing it with a single resistance
rather than a resistor for every 4 LED's in series to a 12 volt source.
It's very time consuming that way although a few bucks cheaper. Power
supply, 1 watt LED's and a set of 100 watt inductors along with lumber, a
cord and mylar mirror paper can be hunted down close to $50 US.
OK Wow, that will definitely make a good grow space. 5 rows of 6 lights,
evenly spaced. I would plan to switch from the internal individual led
drivers, to an external driver. I'm doing a video on this shortly, its a
bunch of soldering but well worth it. If you surface mount them like I
have, you should be fine with passive cooling. I hope you take lots of
pictures.

WOW. This is great. A lot of light box tutorials look like electrical fire
hazards. I plan to use 6 SHO 101W bulb that are 2700K. (over a 150 gal
fish tank) I have a can of mirror spray paint so that will provide
reflection. This tutorial is just what I needed to build it safely. Thanks.
I love the LED's - their light intensity is awesome. But I'm re-building
them because the LED drivers in the cheap bulbs I bought keep failing, so
in the meantime I need another grow light, and I enjoy building things even
if I don't need them. :-)
I think the only drawback of the LED's is that they are very directional,
whereas the CFL's light a larger area. Also watt for watt the CFL's are a
lot cheaper if that is a consideration. I think V3 of the LED grow light
will be about 220watts.
where can i find those light sockets, ive looked at lowes and home depot
and e27 sockets they have there dont look anything like those, they have 2
connectors sticking out for a different light socket like for the long
florescent lights
Very good video! You may have answered this question it just slipped my
observation. . What is the life expectancy of these I purchased some before
It did not last long at all. I enjoyed your videos very much.
Awesome vid. But does the LED grow light work better? Since it uses less
power I would think it is ideal. Happen to know the intensities of both
lights? I'm curious on which build I should pursue. Thank you!
I will definitely do a comparison soon. The intensity of the LED's is
WAAAAY better, but the coverage is much less. I think watt for watt I would
go with an LED setup, but its also about twice as expensive.
I am so glad that you did NOT start your video from where and how you
bought your bathroom cabinet n all that crap...we came here for the
lights..and light is what you started it from...THANK YOU!
How much grow space do you think you'll have? I think 16-20 LED bulbs would
cover a 1m x 1m space with even lighting. then again, I wouldn't use less
than this 270w CFL light for the same area.
oh, I just finished watching this video, update coming on LED grow light.
I'm looking into building my first grow tent and lighting unit right now
and the LEDs seem to have the most potential.
You second question: As close as possible without burning leaves (about an
inch) - Your first question I'm not sure. I could guess but I'd probably be
wrong. Both, however, will do the trick.
I'm a bit shocked that there are not as many video's to catch up on in the
few months I've not been visiting youtube then again I'm all caught up :)
great how to's you've done sir.

Comparison of different reflectors to be used for DIY scrubbers, for the curly-Q spiral bulbs. The one that was the best is sold now at Santa-Monica.cc ...
Yes you could. But this one is chosen because it is not deep (takes minimal
space), and because the socket is non-cracking ceramic, and because it has
a built-in hanger in addition to the clip-on clamp.
Are the benefits of building and using one of these scrubbers really worth
it? I'm sorry, I'm a noob and I'm looking for the best ways to maintain a

You can polish the cheap hardware stores ones, goto your local auto parts

Make Your Own Reflector DIY Tutorial
Reflectors are a great entry point into the world of lighting so today on The Slanted Lens, I am going to show you how to make one of your own. Let's get started!
Love to watch your videos. Very informative. Its because of you im always
looking to DIY most of my accessories. I just made a grid using pringles
can and straws and works great. I learned in the process that the depth of
the honeycomb or holes determines the angle of light and intensity. Thanks
for always sharing.
+Doc GermaniCus The actual intended use is for insulation in buildings and attics so maybe look for "foam insulation"? If you have a hardware store near you, you will want to look near the lumber and building materials.
i couldn't find the brand you have, i went to home depot and lowes. neither
of them had that brand. and the others had a yellow color when you peeled
the silver part.
+Mitchell Flores Make sure you are looking at the bead foam panels. There is another kind that looks similar from afar, but upon closer inspection actually looks more like foam core. Here is the link on Home Depot's website so maybe you can have it shipped to the store if your location doesn't normally keep it in stock: //www.homedepot.com/p/R-Tech-3-4-in-x-4-ft-x-8-ft-R-2-89-Foam-Insulating-Sheathing-310873/202530470
+Photo Lab UK The reason that DPs use this reflector is its very flat and delivers a beautiful light. Its much better than a 10 reflector.
