I learned this tune from a recording of Orville Burns, the Texas Fiddler
who is famous for this tune. I have studied with a number of great fiddlers
over time, including Tony Ludiker, Dick and Lisa Barrett, and Dale Morris
Sr., but I have taken lessons in a long time. However, there is always more
to learn.
This is totally in standard tuning. It has the sound of Orville Burns,
which will play tricks with your head. There are a couple of videos
featuring him on Youtube. If you haven't heard him play, you should check
him out.
Vi, nice tune (hadn't heard it before), nice sound, well played! Did you
use a non-standard tuning? It didn't really sound like D somehow, but it
was. Have to try to learn this one...
