How to Make Flour Tortillas! Noreen's Kitchen Basics
Greetings! We were going to have some burritos for supper so I thought it would be a good time to show you how I make flour tortillas! These could not be more ...
+Mary Kay Simoni Because flour tortillas cannot be made in a tortilla press. They must be rolled out. Tortilla press is for the production of corn tortilla which do not use flour. Flour has gluten in it and if you try and use a press it won't work because the dough will snap back. You need to roll our flour tortillas with a pin.
Hi, Noreen-Made my first tortillas today (recipe from another channel) and
they turned out awful! I should have stuck to your expertise because I
really am in awe of your skills. Any tips for making whole wheat tortillas?
Any recipes for chicken or beef fajitas?
+Rachele Kelly If you want to use whole wheat, you would replace half of the flour with whole wheat flour. You don't want to use all whole wheat flour because you will end up with frisbees. LOL. You may also need to add a bit more water because the WW flour is going to need more. You may also want to let them sit for double the amount of time to give the flour time to absorb the water and relax the dough for easier rolling out. As for the fajita recipes, I have a chicken fajita recipe available on my channel. Hope that helps.
Hubby bought me a KitchenAide for Christmas. I've noticed that mine doesn't
seem to mix any of the dough at the very bottom of the bowl. Any ideas why?
It looks as noreen has a commercial kitchen aide, I have a slightly larger bowl than u, (6qt) my husband had to spread out the whisk attachment a little, the others do fine.
I'm a new subscriber. Saw the tutorials for the deco mesh wreath and wanted
to thank you for that tutorial, never knew it was so easy to make fabulous
wreaths! I make corn tortillas at home on occasion, but I'm not so good at
making them. Do you have a tutorial for corn tortillas?
Yes, I do. Whenever you wonder if I have done a video tutorial for a specific recipe, please make sure to go to my channel page and click on the magnifying glass in the navigation bar at the top of the page. Type in what you are looking for and if I have done a recipe for that, it will populate a list of videos with that subject in the title or tags. Here is the video for the corn tortillas: How to Make Corn Tortillas! Noreen's Kitchen
Oh I know all about Crisco. We have Spectrum coconut oil here, but I haven't seen the shortening. I actually googled it after that comment and saw it LOL Personally, I'll use lard when I can't use butter. I appreciate you letting me know, though! I really appreciate when people suggest alternatives. Some people are too preachy and it turns people off to getting away from the crap they're selling us as food these days!
There really is such a thing and I use it all the time. It is organic palm kernel shortening, expeller pressed. It is made by a company called Spectrum and can be found right next to the icky Cricso in the grocery store or you can get it online. I don't use crisco because it is pretty much poison in my book and the cause for much of the declining health of our country. Look up "The Rise and Fall of Crisco" to see what I am talking about! Thanks for stopping by and thanks for commenting!
