Sorry but a strong back is really essential for good athleticism, and an
intense back workout is one of the main goals of dead-lifting, so of course
it puts a pressure on your spine. That aside, if you have spine problems,
you should consult with sport doctors how you should train, but it's
probably even more essential for you, to strengthen your back, and your
whole trunk!
Thanks a bunch Ryan! I did submit quite a few stories along with my
video...7 kids...42 yrs old...4 of us got caught in log jam on river a
couple years back...all 4 of us somehow broke out and survived...ya...I am
just an old guy with a life full of "learning stories and close calls".
Thanks for the "how-to" videos...you guys are great!
I also have mild scoliosis and through a lot of weightlifting, pullups, and
muscle ups have managed to mask those deficiencies. I also had a bad
accident where I torqued my lower vertebrate. Physical activities would
always re-injure me there until I started intensely training parkour and
crossfit.
Great video guys. Love what your doing. Way to to promote physical fitness.
I am still a little heavy and injured. But I hope to see you all at the
next tryouts. Good point into the rowing too. I do a lot of white water
kayaking when the rain allows it. Nothing better to get the blood pumping.
I build bulk very easily. At the age of thirteen I had the build of a rugby
player and the closest thing I did to a physical activity was play chess.
If I do weight training I won't be very agile with all of the muscle mass.
I'd prefer a lean body with a good power to weight ratio.
pull ups and muscle ups are mostly upper back. deadlift is mostly lower
back. the lower back is more important to strengthen for injury prevention.
deadlift is dangerous if you do it wrong. NOT deadlifting is also
dangerous. if you do deadlift right, it is extremely beneficial.
Also good breathing technique and strong midsection are important for safe
back training. Some safer, bodyweight alternatives include: first and
foremost glute-ham rise (GHR), and simple leg/trunk rises (while the other
lies locked on a table or something).
I'm learning to swing from a bar to another, but my both palms hurt and
grow callus beneath my middle fingers, one even bleeding inside. Is there
any proper way to hold a bar? I could wear gloves but it doesn't seem
practical to wear them all the time.
How many audition videos do you think are submitted? I guess I am wanting
to know my odds as I submitted for 2013. I am 42 years old and am really
strong and agile for my age but not sure if I will even get a look at the
course.
Just because you weight train doesn't mean you will be bulky and slow. If
you keep up your regular agility and flexibility training, you will still
be agile and way stronger. Weight training does not mean bodybuilding.
honestly, they don't really care how good you are. they just want good
stories. so your best bet is to play up the fact that you are an older
underdog and any other good life stories or adversity you've overcome.
I have always wanted to do ninja warrior i been watching it for 4 years now
one big thing to train for is the warped wall and grip strangth also good
formation i would love to try out but i half to be 21
Well things to look into in bodyweight training, would be glute-ham rise
(GHR), pistols and back lever... it's not exactly the same as deal-lifts +
squats, both trainings have their own advantages.
yes, i got 32nd and bare missed the top 30 cutoff. i sprained my ankle on
my first wall run attempt and was doomed from there, lol. next time i will
do much better!
I'm against weight-lifting. Is there a body weight exercise that exercises
the same muscles as a dead lift?
