I'll take a stab from a totally outside perspective.1) When you sit a foot and a half from a mirror the light travels 3 feet to get from you to your mirror to your eye. That's what you look like from 3 feet away. People throughout the day are occasionally closer than this. So, it can be important to see yourself from the perspective of how others will see you. It isn't always easy or comfortable to be less than 5 inches from a mirror to account for looking nice for a boyfriend/girlfriend/husband/wife/suitor.2) Ever see a digital artist work on something? Ever notice that they don't work on everything from the size of the final product? Do you know why that is? Because you can do a much more detailed job if you get every spec in the perfect place. Same principle.3) It isn't always about others. Sometimes it's self confidence. Like people who go to the gym regularly (beyond general fitness) but don't look for excuses to take off clothing. They don't care if other people know about their 8 pack abs and they don't take their shirt off to prance around and show it off. It certainly wouldn't change anything if they only had a 6 pack with less definition. It isn't about telling other people how hard they worked to look like that, and it isn't about making sure other people are aware of how they look. They feel better about themselves.

+Tommy Whitaker Yes.  Not saying that an actual smart mirror is new.  Was just listing some functions that smart mirrors that already exist have.  Most smart mirrors are DIY projects though (with screens behind the mirrored surface, often running on a Pi).  Very few substantial smart mirrors on the market.

+lil z Oh, this isn't a smart mirror though.  This is just a mirror with lighting options.  That shit has been around for decades.  I thought this was a smart mirror with a screen behind it.  Maybe a camera and touchscreen to allow you to zoom in to pick your own magnification setting.  This was some serious bullshit.

+lil z Most of those things exist. So sorry you're tired of hearing about tech. Maybe this is a bad channel for you. How would you prefer to differentiate an object with internal tech that is designed to integrate into a lifestyle from a separate item that isn't designed to do those things?
