Another vid of my SV, it's the 3rd time it's been out of the garage in the last year, so it's not running perfect, I need to go through the carbs. Sorry for the wind noise ...
Sadly, I've never had it on a dyno, but I'm definitely happy with the
power. My advice would be to leave it alone if you have a good-running SV.
If you have to rebuild the motor anyway, go for it. Better plan yet, buy a
blown-motor SV for cheap and do it to that one. Long story short, if you go
the route I did you'll get so deeply invested in the bike that there'll be
no way you could ever recoup 1/5 the money you've put in. It was worth it,
but I'll never be able to sell the bike.
Admittedly, it's not that good. It's plenty for around town, but I easily
outrun it on the highway. A HID conversion might do the trick, if it didn't
melt the light housing... It'd be fine with one of the LED lights I bought
from Komy. I have another video with my Triumph Tiger where I compare the
brightness of the Denali lights to the cheaper lights I bought direct from
a fellow in China (Komy), I've always thought about buying another of those
and using it on the SV.
I like it a lot. In fact, I ended up buying them for a couple of my bikes.
The CRG mirrors are better than the eBay ones, they're convex so you can
see all the way from the left lane behind you to the right lane behind you,
just with one mirror. Don't bother with the Lanesplitters, though, not
worth it IMO. With the eBay cheapos, they're flat glass. They work, they're
just not as nice. Vibration wasn't ever a problem when the bike's rolling
down the road.
i got a 04 sv650n that ive kept relativly stock engine wise but have put
custom tail nd with single seat with a yoshimura rs3 slip on and yoshi full
cut back system and full suspension upgrade front and back with gsxr100
front calipers and disks now looking into getting some more top end power
but i doubt if i get the gears extended itl have the same acceeration any
advice looked into superchargers but a bit pricey.
@ajpitkethly It's not nearly as bad as our gloss black car, which is dirty
as soon as you wash it. I use Original polish and it cleans up really
easily. And for the record, it's satin black, so it's got a little more
sheen than a flat black while not being a gloss. Definitely my favorite
color for a car or bike.
reaper, so gay. thats what my coworker put on his 06 gsxr 600. Save your
money on the big bore. Its not worth it. Do small bolt ons. The sv650
engine runs into lots of problems trying to get lots of power out of them.
Do like me, trade your 650 on a sv1000.
It's got a stock crank. I've never had it on a dyno, so I'm not sure what
kind of power it puts down. I rode it back to back against a somewhat stock
SV (exhaust/K&N), and the seat-of-the-pants dyno was happy -- very happy.
Honestly, I wouldn't bother with the power mods. There's not a whole lot to
be gained for all the money it takes. I'd play with sprockets, but you're
going to give up something on one end to gain on the other...
Not much. It's enough to be legal, but not much for night-time riding
outside of town. That's not the purpose though, I've got other bikes to
ride if I'll be out in the country/on the highways at night.
Yeah, but I had been riding my Triumph much more in the last year. It sold
today though, so I'll probably get the SV out of the back of the garage and
get it on the road again.
im thinking of getting my bike done in matt black. how do find it to keep
clean ect. do you have to look after it or can you just wash it as and when
it gets dirty. cheers
thanks :D the light and gauge combo really clean up the front. how is the
light output of the small light? i know some do HID in them and was
thinking of doing the same
What kind of power gain did you get with the the big bore and supporting
mods? I'm looking to do something similar with my 07 SV650S(nicknamed "The
Reaper")
@ScotsbikerFife Thanks! I'm trying to find the motivation to tear back into
it and get it finished up.

Is this a 99'? I think I have the same bike but I have the naked version of
it. This question goes out to any SV enthusiast. I want to get rid of that
black rear fender that holds the plate. I wanted to know if anyone knew of
a bracket that would allow me to bolt on the plate right above the wheel. I
have seen it on other bikes but not sure if it was a custom modification or
if a website sells such bracket. Let me know thanks!
i like the camera angle ! anywayz dnt think im coming here just to say
check out my channel but if you can have a flick trough my sv 650 videos :)
