I am currently having a difficult time deciding between the 2 diesel SUV's,
X5 x35d, or the more favored, Mercedes Benz ML350 BLUETEC. Benz get's a 5
star crash rating, while BMW has 4 star on the passenger front. BMW accepts
BioDiesel & Benz doesn't. Benz has 1 more turbo, & 4 years full
maintenance. Reliability, is too son to predict for a 2010. Although, the
2010 version of the ML, is a much more advanced beast, than the older first
released ML 320 CDI. The technology does not compare
The GLK is no where as good as the ML. When any auto manufacturer releases
a brand new model, it's usually a lemon/guinea pig. The ML has been updated
& perfected,(almost;if only it were Bio-Diesel safe, it would be #1). The
Motor Trend comparison is SUPER LAME.Comparing 3 new diesels & 1 Hybrid, &
then saying the Hybrid won?Not even the same category. Other car review
co.'s seem to be avoiding the testing of the 2010 ML Bluetec,& posting
reviews of the gas powered version-lower MPG!
Stupid American's also waste lot's of dough, on hybrids, which are the
LEAST greenest vehicle's in the WORLD! Nobody is thinking about the Toxic
waste, that all of those super large batteries, are going to leave behind.
Modern Diesel engines get better mileage, & emit less pollutants, into OUR
environment. I am disappointed that Benz has not incorporated Bio-Diesel
use, in their Bluetec engines. We "SMART", American's, are buying Diesel,
to try and get away from relying on gasoline.
yeah they are... even audi can make it with annoying Front wheel drive.. so
NO reason why volvo cant! they already got the looks quite well, but they
REALLY need to make the cars DRIVE SUPER and better engines and gears. and
its sad how jap cars are just as safe or more so these days. safety really
USED to be a volvo thing. now its standard on every car, so they need to
think of something innovating and new!
Why does she even compare the XC60 to that Mercedes? In every comparison
including them, the Volvo wins by at least 2 places. And Mercedes shouldn't
be considered a High end brand since they have the worst reliability rate
according to J&D Power Associates. Plus they get all of their technical
stuff from Lexus, Volvo, Audi, and BMW.
A GLK? I hope you know that in at least 2 comparisons including thr RX350,
Q5, XC60, and GLK, the Merc was last both times, the Audi won both times,
Volvo came second but only by one point and it was because it wasn't as
thrilling to drive as the Audi, but Volvo isn't about that. I'd seriously
keep away from the GLK if I were you.
@morrarN Wow, really??? That is a powerful engine!!!! But here in America
we don't get the diesel engines. I just put that up since this video is
kinda old and I want the XC60 to sell as much as possible and more power
will help that. The XC60 is the fastest and most powerful out of the CRX,
X3, Q5, RX350/460, and the GLK.
This volvo is now available in the 3.2 FWD line 6 engine..much cheaper, but
does not come with leather standard. Very nice car indeed, I sell Volvos
and the City Safty works as very well. This is the best bang for the buck
comparied to any other mid-sized crossover and will run on reg. gas, even
with the turbo engine!!!
I'm sure that you all know that the chinese automaker Geely bought Volvo
recently. People, don't freak out Volvo will still be made in Sweden and in
Belgium and have its own board of directors so it will be Volvo's own
thinking. And Geely will only be reciving parts and technologes from Volvo,
not the other way around.
@shfbdfi1273 Geely is a Chinese auto maker and since most everyone thinks
that Geely will ruin Volvo's quality which is a very sad thought. Geely's
top boss wants to actually improve Volvo's interior design and make an
S-Class competetor, hopefully they will do just that!!!! :)
@junglist1soldier That wan't the comparison I was talking about. And also
Road & Track did a comparison on those 4 cars. That time the Mercedes came
last place too. And if the ML is so bad then why did it get 7th place on
Top Gear's 20 worst cars list?
Everyone is entitled to their own personal likes. Beauty = personal taste.
That being said, different types of people with different personalities
will be inclined to go for cars similar to them. (the vibe it gives you)
Oh yes we are so stupid and that's why you can't type in proper english!
And yes Ford is the only decent American brand but that's why I would buy a
Volvo. Anyways I don't care if most are stupid because I'm not.
I have had this for one year. It was a very good car, but I was able to get
a better one so I bought a mercedes CLS. I recommend it over the mercedes
GLK and Acura RX. Although I'd get a Q5 over this one
Only to you they are uncomfortable and over priced. That's why there are
100 other car companies. You are free to choose. But don't say that they
are just a brand name when they are the best of the best.
ok shut up, american people tend to be pretty stupid, and mmost american
cars suck balls only chevy and ford manage to pull it off but the rest... i
mean why would you buy such a heap of junk
what facts? MB is top on all JD ratings, Quality, Performance, Design,
Service but with the exception of reliability in which they are right in
the middle along with BMW, Audi and Volvo.
Like I said above, the GLK lost, in last place, by more than 2 places. They
aren't good cars. And all of them are uncomfortable and over priced. And
they are jst a brand name.
New powerupgrades, 3.2 liter engine gets 240 hp which is 5 extra horses and
the T6 gets 300 hp which is 19 extra hp and 30 pounds feet of extra torque
which is 325.
I don't know why they compare this to the Mercedes GLK, this car beat that
one in every comparison that it's been in so obviously it's going to be
better.
Man... I have a 98' Volvo S70 (which was bought the same year). The only
real problem I had was the airconditioning. Other than that, It's been
working just like new for those wonderful 11 years. I wouldn't trade my
Volvo for any car(unless for another volvo and an Austin Martin) just
because of the great expirience I have had. An example was an accident I
was involved. A truck ran over me and the only thing we had to do was
change the hood and the grill. Those cars are really good and tough.
My girlfriend's FIRST car was a 2000 Volvo S80 that she paid $10,000 in
2008. WHAT A MONEY-PIT VOLVO'S ARE!!! The high-price means
high-reliability. These cars suck! The engine compartment is extremely
cramped even in a non-turbo. To get a single part you need to take 4 other
things out. They break down constantly and the parts are extremely
expensive. My Girlfriend has replaced Transmission $3,500. Alternator $800.
Axel shaft $700. ABS module $700. O2 Sensor $400. All within 16,000 miles.
WOW... that's nice info. I though that the sport package was supposed to
make it smoother. Ironic. LOL. But thanx again for the info. Maybe that's
why mine isn't smooth at all. I was also thinking maybe it could be that
it's a really heavy car. It's weight takes a toll on the shock absorbers
and with really bad roads on the list, shock absorbers don't do much.
@libetta Sorry man. It doesn't ride smooth at all. My girlfriend's
Mitsubishi Lancer rides a lot smoother than that. If I accelerate it to
about 70 MPH, it feels like a rocketship [most of this due to really bad
roads, but that doesnt happen on the BMW 530i my dad has ;)] LOL. But they
do have a really nice and confy interior. =)
I'm sure that you all know that the chinese automaker Geely bought Volvo

@razgriz04 Yeah im planning to get an S80 in the next year or two so I've
been looking into the different options. Apparantly the comfort chassis is
a no cost option. Im sure the weight of the car also has an effect. Those
volvos sure are weighty! Thats the price you pay for all that refinement
and safety!
i would definitely choose this over a 5 series, e class or a6..best looking
for me, not as show off as german cars and more comfy, also i can have a
naturally aspirated v8 instead of turbos
car is good, the video quality is traaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaash! Kelly Blue Book
is trash...upload in better quality...then I will review it again...now
only 1 star.
@mrjustin5 Nuthin wrong with mine.! And it still goes like stink... ...most
all of the time. Regular England - Scotland cruising 10k no-worry miles
p.a. SALTO
@djkasdjkasdjdjdj wow ur an idiot plain and simple cuz last i checked 90%
of all consumer review editor drives BMW not shitty volvo Sie sind wie ein
Idiot :)
In Europe the 2.5D is the most common version. 2.5D produces same torque as
the T6, but has superior consumption and fuel range. The USA is a big
place, so should those factors matter? T6 = 440 Nm (324 lb.ft) Fuel
Consumption = 8.1L / -L / 15.1L / 10.6L (22 mpg) Range = 660 km CO2
emissions = 248 g/Km 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) = 7.4 s D5= 440 Nm (324
lb.ft) Fuel Consumption = 5.7L / -L / 8.7L / 6.8L (34 mpg) Range = 1029 km
CO2 emissions = 179 g/Km 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) = 8.3 s
Uh wow, what a great job on showing a car _without_ Integrated SatNav,
Blind Spot Information System, and Adaptive Cruise Control. The car driven
in the video had none of those discussed features. Stock photos were used
to show off those options - the actual drive car had a Garmin Nuvi (3:08),
and the wrong mirror & steering wheel to support BLIS and ACC (4:16 / 4:28
respectively).
Fuck the asian crap cars like Subaru, Volvo all the way! Quality, comfort
and saftey are some of the key features that Volvo stands for and what a
buyer looks for on a car. I could gabble up 100+ things that beats the
asians back to stoneage but that would be a long... long list! And those
couple of extra dollars you pay for the Volvo are worth it!
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), gave 5 Volvo cars their
Top Safety Pick award, more than any other car company except Mercedes,
which also won 5 awards. Many cars nowadays have the same safety features
as Volvos (finally), but these awards show that Volvo is STILL leading on
the cutting edge of safety.
I'm sure that you all know that the chinese automaker Geely bought Volvo
recently. People, don't freak out Volvo will still be made in Sweden and in
Belgium and have its own board of directors so it will be Volvo's own
thinking. And Geely will only be reciving parts and technologes from Volvo,

thank you lol she bought it used for about $29,000. good condition but not
perfect. 3,000 miles. she has always been fond of volvo, bmw, and audi. her
previous car was a 2002 audi a6, which she LOVED. she just wanted a
slightly roomier and more "updated" car. i think her car before the a6 was
some old 90's bimmer.
it's kinda strange that you asked that, but i'll answer it anyway.. his
civic is a 2006, and he's perfectly fine with it i didn't want to have to
spend $1000 on some little beaten up 20-year-old fuck, and since my mom got
the volvo, she's gonna give me her 2002 audi a6
ok, This was proberly the worst review. they say that the V70 and the V50
has better comfort? well first of they when tehy say V70 they show an odler
V70 R. R is the "sport" mode of the V70. and the XC70 is just much better
than that. I now this because we have one.
@Etyphoon88 Diesel vehicles have historically been dismal sellers in the US
but they are trying to make a comeback. I hope that it happens. I live in
SE Asia now and have a great diesel Hyundai Tucson 4WD AT. That is another
vehicle that never made it to the US.
New engine upgrades for 2011 models 3.2 liter engine gets 240 hp wich is a
5 hp gain and for the T6 gets 300 hp and 325 pounds feet of torque. Which
is a 19 hp gain and 30 pounds feet of extra torque. So this can tow like a
V8. Source-Volvo.
Yeah the TDI is a good engine, and you can get in in the Touareg, but not
the Passat wagon. I'm a big fan of diesel wagons- and I look to examples
like your police to support that! What a beautiful ride for emergency
services!
lol yea i'm 14.. she's keeping her a6 at home.. she's gonna give it to me
when i start driving (YES!! lol) it's got a power sunroof, leather seating,
radio controls on the steering wheel, yea..
Why do all American can reviews have porno music in the background and,no
matter what car it is(Limo, Wagon, SUV, Super car), there's always a woman
driving or operating interior functions ?
I own a 2000 Volvo xc70 (box style) and it is great in the snow! It is
moonstone tan and has tan leather interior! It also has the 2.5t 5 cyl.
engine that I loove! Great cars these volvos!
At 5:02 he implies that the turbo charged engine is the 3.2 engine. The
turbo charged engine is a 3.0L engine, called the T6. The naturally
aspirated engine is a 3.2L engine.
lol, who is gonna take a volvo offroad anyways... the only reason people
buy these, are because they want to be able to drive on any road, mountains
or in the suburbs
No diesel-powered XC70 in the US?? Here in Europe, the D5 (205hp)
diesel-engine is about the only one you see in a XC70. Much better fuel
economy and torque!
just reviewing the volvo xc 60 and now the 70 they both offer top quality
style comfort and safety which brings value to this already superfluous
brand
I must disappoint you on your assumption that I am retarded. I will not
satisfy you by calling you the same thing in return. What you should do is
check up on some facts - almost all Diesel engines sold in Europe (except
for the cheapest ones) are fully filtered on particle emissions by now and
have no more than a petrol engine - even the brakes account for more
emissions now. On NOx you are right, but you can very well compare petrol
and diesel engines for their CO2 emissions. 104g/km anyone?
You were the one who compare mpg of a diesel engine to mpg of a petrol
engine. You cannot directly compare a kilogram of petrol to a kg of diesel
to a kg of coal. First, I said petrol engines emit more NOx. Then you argue
petrol engines emit more CO2. Then I said NOx are toxic. You now argue that
you did not say anything about toxicity. Yes, I know. That is the point.
You didnt account for toxicity. These engines use different fuels and their
mpg numbers cannot be directly compared.
1) Who said that I was comparing Imperial gallons to US gallons? Since I
come from continental Europe and we don't use gallons at all I was merely
saving you the trouble to calculate what 3.5 litres per 100 kilometres
would mean if you expressed it in mpg. And yes, I know the difference, andy
yes again, I used US gallons. 2) I was never talking about the toxicity of
anything. If you insist on finding new comparisons of things I never
referred to: feel free, it's amusing by now!
As I have said, if you are retard, then you must be stupid, so you have not
disappoint me afterall. First and most impotant, it is nonsense to compare
mpg of diesel to mpg of petrol. While you at it, why don't you compare mpg
of an electric car -- which is "infinite". Even with the filter, diesel is
still produce more particular than petrol. Finally, the US mpg is not the
same as European mpg. An Imperial (UK) gallon is larger. You need to
educate yourself before you speak.
By the way, I am not calling you names. I am stating the fact. Who in the
right mind would compare mpg in petrol to mpg in diesel? Who is the least
bit educated would equate an Imperial galleon to a US galleon? NOx is not
the same as CO2. Are you trying to say 1g of NOx is same as 1 g of CO2? For
one, NOx have much higher toxicity than CO2. Why did't you compare H2O to
NOx then? I am not going to compare apples to oranges. If these are not not
stupid comments, then what is?
Added this to another review vid already: You've got to love how Americans
still talk about "fuel economy" and "times of high gas prices" reviewing a
car with a 2.5 l engine and over 200 hp. This is not supposed to be "US
hate" or anything, but I've just ordered a C 30. I'ts going to be a 1.6 D
DRIVe - 1.6 l Diesel engine, 110 hp and a "fuel economy" of 67 mpg...
that's what we call low consumption nowadays in Europe. Sadly, that model's
not even available in the US....
I've taken the C30 out twice now on test drives and here are my
observations: Seats - extremely comfortable Instrument Cluster (gauges) -
simple, easy to look at and not straining on the eyes " (centre console) -
didn't like the design on the first look, 2nd test drive, was more
comfortable with it Engine Power - More than powerful enough if you want to
have some fun Cabin Noise - City (very quiet), Highway, little bit of
noice, but not so much that it's annoying
Are you stupid or retard? No one in his right mind would compare mpg of
diesel vs mpg of petrol. Do you know diesel cars produce significantly more
NOx and particulate matters. We don't need black smoke coming out of our
cars. We have plently low consumption cars in US. They are made by Honda,
Toyota, Ford... We just don't care of European low consumption cars,
because they are weaker and more expensive.

It is one of the ugliest cars I have ever seen in my entire life, by acres
and miles! You see its front, and think it's a rather good looking little
car, but then you see its back and you just go What the FUCK?! No thanks,
don't give me European rubbish. Give me American.
Theres a Swed probly atempting suicide: "our US luanch is ruined"! "I
forgot the cupholders"! "I have brought shame to Volvo and must now insure
my genes are not passed on for the good of the genepool". Crusie controll,
does that come standard with a Katie Holmes?
Want this car SO Badly. I'm about to go into nursing school and hopefully
can have it when I graduate! P.S. That's exactly why I am never having
children! 1. THere's no money for cars like this 2. No room!
This baby 'Vo has one colossal problem;poor rear legroom for tall adults.
It's good apart from that caveat. I would have made the wheelbase longer so
two tall adults can easily fit in the back.
I have a standard c-30 when I have my windows down and going around 50mph
it chirps like a bird, In other cars it doesn't sound the same. Is that
chirp a special sound about the c30?
Well it would be nice to have them but i would rather be in a safe care
with zero cup holders then a car with tons that is not safe. for example
the Nissan cube, it has like 7.
I'd have not known they come in so many exterior colors as the only ones
I've seen in real life are white and reviewed in orange; all their press
vehicles are orange?
Last time I tried driving with a drink in between my legs it spilled while
I was driving and when I got to work people thought I pissed myself. I want
cupholders.
Volvo C30 is quite possibly the car with the worst rear design ever. That
thing looks like a huge, gaping Goatse-anus! Jesus effing Christ, who BUYS
this shit?
This car is not ugly. There are some folks that just have different taste.
C30 looks perfect for a daily driver. This car makes Volvo quite exciting
to me.
if you want a hardtob convertable, i recomend the Miata, cuz it gives you
full storage space in the trunk whether the hard top is up or down. and its
sporty as well, its not as much of a comfy ride, but its fun. if you want a
car thats got tons of space and is nice and is basically the same thing as
this, try the Camry-Solara. they both have their differences but the solara
is more affordable, and also again has more trunk space with the roof down.
but this is still a pretty great car.
I'm a little surprised that reviewers are not mentioning some of the
negatives, which I consider significant. For example, with the top down,
the rear seat belts flap loudly at high speed. Also, the car really has
WEAK acceleration... much more than you might expect, so be prepared for
that. The middle storage section that is behind the radio is VERY difficult
to reach and store anything there. Overall, it's a great, fun car, but far
from perfect.
@verbusen both are nice cars in their own way, but there is a significant
difference between the two. The G37 is rear wheel drive, has around 100
more horsepower, and is far more performance-oriented. The Volvo is front
wheel drive and aims to be a more comfortable, relaxing ride. The G37 will
put you on the edge of your seat; the Volvo, though comfy and commendable
for other reasons, certainly won't.
Other than the Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster, this is the most desirable
convertible for me. Obviously the big difference being that this seats 4
more comfortably than the Lambo seating 2. Plus the Lambo looks much worse
with the top up (as if you would ever want to drive it that way). Price is
a factor as well, but for the best looking car in the world you should
expect to be spending a bit.
id only get a C30 if i was asured i could turn it over to rear wheel drive.
and as far as power a 940Turbo or a 850R could out run this car drove the
C30 as soon as it got into showrooms and was largly disapointed after
fallowing the consept of the car for two years... its just weak, but i do
love the look, needs more power and RWD
I'm sure that you all know that the chinese automaker Geely bought Volvo
recently. People, don't freak out Volvo will still be made in Sweden and in
Belgium and have its own board of directors so it will be Volvo's own
thinking. And Geely will only be reciving parts and technologes from Volvo,

By having a 5 cylinder engine you easily avoid car use taxes on 6 cylinder
vehicles. The c70 also uses 95 RON fuel, which will cost a bit more, but is
made up in performance. substandard fuel may also be used in a pinch. the
12 year rust undercoating is also a bonus for people in cold climates. i
love this car.
I said this car is my second favorite convertible, and that I think the
Murcielago Roadster is my favorite because of its looks. Why are you
insulting the USA? You should calm down before my country sends our
degenerates and niggers over there to embarrass whatever insignificant spec
of land you think is great.
YAY! Volvo's smaller and Swedish sister is saved! 1/29/10 Spyker bought
Saab! Please also consider Saab if you're thinking of a Volvo (I own a
Volvo) or if you already own a Volvo get its sister too! Think Swedish
style and practicality wit a splash of Dutch crazyness! Yay for Volvo and
Saab!
Standard features include air conditioning w/dual-zone climate controls,
tilt/telescopic leather-wrapped steering wheel w/radio controls, cruise
control, 8-way power front seats, memory system, 6-disc CD changer,
outside-temperature indicator, and power-retractable hardtop.
One thing I have troubling finding out about this car is its reliability, I
really want one but given that I'm driving an Acura right now I'm not
likely to find something more reliable, so anyone had big problems with a
Volvo, or a huge success story of no failures?
Oh im getting 2 volvos and configuring the C30 engine to the C70 to give it
a turbo charged power. I will also switch out the axels and wheels to
accommodate the power and the C70's lightweight design will add to the
SPEED and Performance.
looks like a nice car all around. I really fell for the Infinity G37 but
its like 10,000 more and I just don't see that much difference. Not crazy
about owning another VW so this may fill the bill.
@tahj677 Of course not. Where the hell would you put pop-up bars for the
front seats!? The windscreen combined with the pop-up bars create a safety
zone around the occupants during a roll-over.
I rented this car while on a Business trip in San Diego. It was a blast!!!!
I have BMW 840ci so I like a lot of torque and power, which this car does
not have, but it peppy and fun to drive.
You probably can, if you want to go back a few years. Locally, there is a
'99 C70 convertible for sale at $7500 and an '04 C70 convertible for
$10,500. I'm going to look at them tomorrow!
fuck infiniti volvo or volkswagen is the way to go for a hard top the only
reason i hate infiniti is because they dont have a dealership where i live
and the closest one is 2 hours away
ya i know that but I dont wana drive 2 hours to the dealership to actually
buy the car and then if something goes wrong and i need it replaced i dont
wana go back to the dealership
where's the actual trunk on that car? where would you put your belongings
if there's an engine in the front of the car and the roof goes in the back
of the car...
Very nice car and you gotta love that it's a hard top convertible with a
real glass rear window.......all I can say is WOW
Volvo Amazon book stand / decoration
With some spareparts from my Volvo Amazon 121 i got the idéa to make this after seeing a guy who tried to sell an original Amazon speedometer as an desk ...
Volvo should make the 121 again, offcourse not the old car, but a new one
but still true to the best Volvo ever.
I would buy it in a heartbeat if they did it right :-)
PS. they say the first love never die, and so i have just outed myself as
my first car was a 1967 121.
