My MR2 build. Took a year to build it. I really enjoy the car. I did most of the work to get it running. Pushes 270 hp at the wheels. I mostly enjoy the shape of this ...
Nice deuce, not a fan of the red door mirrors but that's your style no
hate. I got a 91 turbo and 91 n/a. Man these cars are so fun to own, the
turbo is a fun ride, especially in 3rd gear at 3500 - 5000 rpm.
Yup. Those mirrors gotta get painted ASAP. Or at least paint them orange to
match your markers. Oh and a couple mr2 emblems would help especially on
the hood where one belongs.
Nice Mr2. What size are your rear wheels & tires? I don't know what width
to get on my wheels that will fit my Mr2. They look like they are 17's, but
my guess 16's?
I would love to pick your brain about your motor choice and upgrades, you've
really got some performance out of what I previously thought to be a
hopeless motor. I believe we're both in Colorado as well, I might have seen
you run at Bandi
im selling a 91 mr2 with a trd wide body kit it has xxr stagger rims its
dark gray black top lots or extras its a N/A .or trade for a stock turbo
MR2 ..message me for pic.
i do love most cars but its all in someones taste not just cars in general.
im all import fanatic and i do like muscle but i mean really everyones got
a camaro and a mustang. dont get me wrong ss and 5.0s are cool and all but
im burnt out on them. everyone has one and everyone that does has either a
big ol ego with it or their motor size is compensating for something to
make them feel tougher. mostly im into DSM and JDM but other cars like 02
wrx sti and infiniti g35 & 350z and supras are cool 2
@MR2VIDS A little secret,If you ride the clutch slightly before moving, the
boost will start to build.Turbo's don't really build boost when in neutral
or park(just rev'n the engine). Put a load on the engine, get the power
going though the drivetrain somewhat then you should start building boost
at a lower RPM range. But without a strong clutch it may not last long. ex.
AWD talon I rev anywhere between 3500 and 4000 RPM, ride the clutch
slightly,just enough so it doesn't move,then BoostLaunchGone
Yeah that sounds reasonable! For wheels, I would probably just run RPF1's
or some OG Japanese wheels and have them rebuilt, and maybe not lower it so
much-30-45° driveway+Texas roads haha. I would like it to be in the 350 hp
range and try to run 13's or so. If I can squeeze enough money somehow I
might be able to splurge for a 97 TT Supra. It seats 5 and the 2JZ can take
bigger turbos on a base engine up to about 400-500hp at 10 psi apparently
:) +any MR2 considered would be outshines by yours
@CASSINOx Take off... thats all it simply is.It just takes a little
practice, just rev your car to a desired amount, take off.And for instance if
it seems hesitant or slow off the line, then next time give it more
throttle,if ithe wheels spin too much then give it less throttle.Find the
balance between the two.Try to remember the RPM range and just make
adjustments and feel for what seems best to you.Maybe time yourself to a
certain speed(like 0-40 for instance)Just whatever feels best to you.
That is about enough =) Market price for a '93 is between 3 to 6 grand,
depending on condition. Most likely the engine needs work, so if you're
going to do it right the first time, you'll want to rebuild the engine.
Rebuilding/upgrading the correct way cost money, so it's about 5 grand. So
far we're at 10 grand. WBK kit from Extreme Dimension is less than 2 grand,
with 2 grand for bodywork to put them on. Paint is another 3 grand, and
wheels are 4 grand. We are at 20 grand now give or take
Well, let me tell you what happened to the wing A drunk guy stumbled, and
leaned on the center piece, and broke it in half. I gave the two pieces to
my friend to fix it but then he lost them. So I got nothing to fix, and the
wing is a one off TRD wing for Corolla AE101 which is only available in
Asia. Sometimes it pops up on eBay Japan or Malaysia for $300 Then $250
shipping, and another $250 for install and paint. I just don't want to
spent $800 to get the center piece fixed, that's all
Thank you for your kind words! :) I have more pictures if you would like to
see, they are on my Instagram. My username is trd3sgte, you don't need an
account to browse Anyway, the wing is a one-off TRD wing for Corolla AE101
in Asia. The center piece was broken and it cost $800 to import one. I just
leave it as is and don't wanna fix it. A widebody with stock body wing
looks weird to me; granted, I already have a weird looking wing, lol
@xAbre1200 The center piece broke =( A drunk guy leaned on it, and split it
in half. The wing is from a Toyota AE101 in Japan, and Corolla's trunk is
wider than MR2. The center piece had to be cut in half, took out an inch or
so, put bars and bondo it. That's why it broke when it was leaned on. Too
much money to import the wing from Japan, cut it and paint it. I just leave
it as is, looks like a Devil's Horns :D
Dude i got massive respect for honda, infact i have owned 5 cars in the
last 18month and two were civics, latest was the EJ2 (civic coupe 94) im
honda mad but.... you gotta stop hating on other rides, love all cars,
civics aint the best in the world but its what alot of us love, others hate
because they are single minded. we all have different taste. if you only
like civics then your not a true petrol head.
@detukker Yeah, what a bummer...the previous owner didn't do a good job
securing the rear bumper to the body. Plus, my tires took out 2 bolts that
fasten the bumper to the body since the car is too low :D Imma put the
bolts back and check it. Thanks! I have ACT 6 puck clutch and pressure
plate, with 11lbs Fidanza flywheel. Once it grabs, it bites hard. No slip
at all so the tire takes the full torque.
@Jfitch08 I had another MR2 that has more engine mod than this, and I used
to do what you just described; feather and slip the clutch to initiate
boost then launch. I even pulled the hand-brake to stop the car from moving
when staging, that helps a lot. Thanks for reminding me, but this one is my
beater daily drive, don't plan to abuse the clutch as much as the other one
=)
Love the look of your car(and the Japanese number plate that you got),I've
been using a photo of your SW as a wallpaper for my ipad mini for the past
few days if you don't mind. Can't you just replace it with the wings from
the rev5 or are they gonna look too small for that TRD body kit. It's a
shame that the wing is missing, but it still look damn good though.
@SurffSwagg9894 Yes, you can beat my car any time, any day, anywhere. I'm
sure that lightweight car + all the money you can spend, are put to the
engine. Maybe next time you can pull the hand brake and rev to 5 grand and
dump the clutch, then you can spin the front wheels until they are done.
Then upload it to Youtube so we all can see =)
@CASSINOx Oh, you meant "SPECIFIC" ;) Every engine is different, you can
not do the same trick to any car. Some need more gas, some need just a
little and the torque will take care of it. For 3SGTE, you want the turbo
to spool when you let go the clutch, so I rev to 5,500RPM and feather the
clutch for a fraction of a second then let it go.
@MR2VIDS grocery getter thats cute lmao if you want we can see how much
groceries fits into mine more than yours if thatll prove your point?? and
people, and gas mileage haha but yeah mines a sleeper that means all money
into motor THAT is the reason i can spin further lol kinda sad when a 1.6l
honda can beat a 2.4l tc
@MR2VIDS its like parked in the middle of like a gas station. i saw it on
mr2oc and was like damn i wish mine would look like that one day. haha. its
def. clean exterior. i also came across ur credit card clearance a couple
months back. and i never realized it was all the same car. nice though!
Well, this video was made almost 2 years ago. Since then I have had things
added to the engine. Stock 3SGTE puts down 160HP to the wheels, 200HP to
the crank. After the parts I put on, I put down 366 to the wheels, way more
than 400 to the crank. So, tell me again about stock motor? =)
Stock MR2 Turbo runs 14 seconds flat, in stock form, with only 200HP to the
crank, about 160HP to the wheels. If you want to be in the 13 second range,
just up the boost and you don't need anything else, not even intake or
exhaust. A supra would be super nice!! Always want one........
Snow drifting in my MR2 Turbo
Messing about in my MR2 Turbo, 257.6bhp @ the wheels. FUN!!! Camera work by Dougs!!!!!
Fun as hell isnt it? I used to scare the shit out of people in the 98 Camry
I used to have, winter was my favorite time of the year ^_^ I had firestone
mud/snow tires on the front, and street treads ont he rear, with a good
e-brake to enduce sliding!! I actually have a vid of my camry on my
profile! ^_^
