I've worked at a golf course for 15 years now where it's Rain Bird impact head irrigation system was installed sometime in the late 80's. I will agree that it's the most reliable type of head, but Rain Bird has phased out the brass impact heads (for golf courses) in favor of plastic gear heads, boo. But they are, in their defense, more configurable. The majority of our heads are still brass Rain Birds though, we have been refurbishing them with spare parts the best we can. As for home lawn care, I maintain a pretty small lawn, I find the long oscillating sprinklers with ~8-10 "shoots" is perfect. Grab an all metal one if you can. Great video Lawn Care Nut.

How long do you leave it running?

Just purchased a brass impulse sprinkler. I have had them before and I think I know how to adjust them. This one will quit rotating after a few moments and I don't have a clue. The only difference that I can see is that it has a water outlet that can be adjusted by the flat diffuser. It also has an unrestricted outlet with no adjustments. This is new to me (I think) and I am wondering if this feature is causing low pressure and the resulting failure to continue rotating.? Any ideas? Thanbks

Would you recommend using a impact sprinkler vs installing an irrigation system that cost thousands of dollars. 

Had to keep checking my hangouts at the end there, was throwing me off. Great info.

Anything that I can apply on my lawn other than water to keep it drought free and from dying out this August? 

Thanks for the video. How important is it to reach every squar inch of the turf with water or does it tend to distribute itself. I'm curious if I need to move mine around to get every little spot behind trees and water reaching the corners without watering the driveway. Thanks. 

I was very surprised that you didn't have underground sprinkling. you are my go to guy for grass care, please keep posting i have watched every video and have improved my lawn 10 fold.
