When cops ask if you understand it's a legalese way of policing by consent, trying to get you to accept their conditions. Theres a video of a cop trying to get into a mans car, he refuses, playing a clever freeman argument. i wasnt saying the police should have been paid by the private group. I was saying the private group should have employed their own security, and given the attendance they would have been able to easily cover the costs fully. in any of this footage i have only seen police, no private security. the police where using the powers given them to maintain public order and the tax funded budgets to lock of an area for a small private group, not in the interests of the general population.

I understand that she was doing her job, but she was overdoing her job and clearly trying to show how much power she had in the situation. Her job doesn't involve telling people multiple times that they will be locked up if they don't do what she says. I'm sure all of them and their cameras heard her fine the first time. I have nothing against police, over here in the UK most of them do and excellent job, but she wasn't polite, and just makes the rest look bad, in my opinion.

What? It is on public records. Go to your police station and they will tell you how many police officers they had there. Then you can calculate the cost if you wish... Even music events have their own security guards they pay. IF there are a few police officers there as well. Which it usually is on bigger events. The police are and should be paid by the tax payers because they are police officers, not hired security. You cant have private people paying police. FFS get real!

The trouble is that deep down the police officers feel so stupid upholding all these laws and restrictions that you can even hear it in their tone of voice. When a civilian challenges their authority it causes the police officers to become defensive, this is a fear based reaction. Fear is very powerful and they would probably throw their own mothers in jail if ordered to. People that join the police force and military are subject to a lot of conditioning,

tbh, given the claimed members/attendies, area and over all status of the event, they should be able to pay their own security, the local council should have a general members list, and idea of the funds they can provide to the event before they commit local police peace keeping forces to the specific area, which would be made a matter of public record in the spirit of public democracy and transparency etc....

I find it hard to get angry over this cohort, knowing that the vast majority of us go on consuming from the very organisations that make it up.
