My son is now 11 years old and he was 5 when diagnosed with TS. I felt the
exact same way you did; feeling devastated but felt a relief to finally
know why my son Benjamin did the things he did. I started to research about
TS and realized all the stigma attached to it was based on movie portrayal
of TS. Very negative! I knew, after more research, that Benjamin could live
a 'normal' life with a lot of love and support from family and friends. We
pray he continues to grow into the wonderful young
I have Tourette Syndrome. I didn't know until I was 18, but I guess that
could be because my tics are minor. You son definitely can live a normal
life! I'm so happy that you are so supportive... my parents, at first, and
still now at times, are embarrassed... and it really is devastating. I hope
you two have a wonderful experience!!
NavyCpo1: Thanks for your comment. How funny that our sons are both
Benjamin. We still have very hard days. The tics come and go. The OCD is
more of a problem. I have to try and focus on the shining moments. Yes, our
kids WILL have a normal and fulfilling life - but with their own special
challenges.
thanks for sharing your story. My son is 10 and facing many of the same
problems and we are trying to figure out how to deal with it. My son likes
to sing too.
Very emotional. Amazing testimonial and your organization is doing
wonderful things to take some of the stigma away from this.

I was bullyied a lot throughout many ages and it affects me till today. I
just like to say that you and everyone who was constantly a target of
bullies, are friends (if I may feel so) and heroes to me, not mattering if
coming good out of this or the opposite. That is to endure so much pain and
some experience it so young. I think that usually people who experienced
this turn to be great persons because you look like a wonderfull person.
Thats win in life, greets buddy.
You are the bravest, wonderful kid i ever saw!!!!!! Keep that chin up
sweetie!!!!! You are very smart, funny, and one tough young man, i admire
you soooooo much!!! Love, Meghan
