campden tablets wont actually kill your yeast it will only stun it and prevent it from reproducing. if there is still enough sugar present (or if you add it yourself in attempt to back sweeten) the yeast will become active and fermentation will resume. Do you even need the campden tablet if you're bringing it up to a boil? Lots of folk dunk their cooling coils in the rolling boil in the last five minutes as a means to sterilise. Sure you'll be fine. Cheers.

Some thing I am trying to soften the water. As we have hard water. More for all graining. Just playing around. Think it helps get chlorine out. Cheers!
