Windows Event Viewer Phishing Scam
Received a weird phone call today and found out during the call that it was a phishing scam. Just thought I'd put this out there to warn people about this scam.
GOD I KNEW IT WAS KINDA SUSPICIOUS!!! he just called me right now and he
did the same thing for me too! i was stupid enough to actually listen to
the bloody bastard and i did like this weird code thingy , he controlled my
comp for a bit and and opened the event viewer! I'm really scared right
now, do you think my computer is safe? i didn't buy anything but told him
to call back later
I love fucking with these turbin heads...sure do every thing they say( the
errors are no concern) untill they want to log on to your computer....then
say please hold for a minute my dog needs to go outside then ..after 1
minute put the phone down and place it next to your stereo speaker then
turn that fucker up to 11 bye bye ganoosh
@NuclearKing01 It happened to me again the other day hahah, they just don't
give up. It was just frightening how "professional" they were in trying to
pull this off. I remember at one point during the call I was transferred to
the "supervisor". Hopefully no one has been caught in this.
@KillaKung yeah i told the guy to call back later so i could ask him for a
number that i could contact him at. After i got the number i was going to
tell him that i reported him to the local athourities and to microsoft and
windows, but he never called back.
@lilcoolj you know I'm not entirely sure but according to hi4411 it's just
a dirty way that they're making money. It's been a couple days since you
posted. Anything strange happening with your computer? And did they charge
you for their services?
LOL I'm from the United Kingdom and I had a call today. A guy from an
Indian call centre. This is the third time he's called me. But I've
recorded this call and I might upload it :3 I told him after 15 minutes
convo that I have a Mac.
when you say he controlled your comp and opened eventviewer did you just
follow his instructions or did you allow him remote access? I'd say you
were ok but there's not enough to go on... any other details you can share?
this just happened to my dad yesterday AND today! luckily he didn't fall
for for anything and before he did anything the guy said, he unplugged the
modem. lol thanks for posting the video it has reasured my dad. :)
haha, just got the call, as soon as he told me to type the command I
checked google, saw it was a scam, then listened to him trying to convince
me it was legitimate for 10 minuits before telling him to fuck off.
Anybody who calls you up at random to do some shit on your machine is a
scam unless you've called them.. It's not just when people call regarding
the eventviewer.. Christ..
Happened to me today, some woman from India. I was searching the internet
while she was talking to me, so I knew it was a scam when I looked it up.
Just hung up on them.
Just happened to me today. Before i open eventvwr i searched it and thats
how i found out its a scam . Hung up on him right away. A day after it
happened to you.
@eWiz1172 hah, that's brilliant, if he was smarter he maybe could've ended
the call earlier by asking how you were able to pick up the phone and use
it.
This happened to me today as well. I stupidly went on Event viewer but I
closed it right away. Am I safe? Please answer soon.

Phone call scam event viewer
Seems since 2009 Indian call centres have been making cold calls pretending to be Microsoft! We've had customers saying that they've had a phone call ...
I got the phone call too but it was California. They told me to go to
Application logs. I told them its a computer I don't care about and I am a
technician so I will just delete it. As long as the service isn't free I am
not doing it. Then he had the nerve to say many people use a computer then
claim they are a tech. Wrong move, you are a company and you are not
suppose to insult your customers. My computer been running for 7 years no
problems. I deleted the log myself.
I got a call today, maybe half an hour ago. I kind of had the feeling he
was not trustworthy, so I googled for "eventvwr" because that is what he
told me to execute. When I told him that official microsoft sites had been
telling people NOT to trust them and that microsoft never calls people.
just got a call, when i said he wasn't trustworthy enough he said they
would block my computer of the net, if i didn't want that to happen i
should let them fix it. then i said, well i don't trust you enough so i
guess you gotta do what you gotta do, then he hung up.
