My grandmother used to make these pillows and give them to family. She took
great care in her perfection of beer pillows. I always admired them. I
didn't even know what it was called.
She died never passing on this trade. Years later I found 2 templates just
full of designs to make these beautiful pillows. I never found anyone who
knew what they were for! They did not have instructions.
All of you who know how to do this please don't let it die with you. There
are still some of us out here who want to learn this lost skill/art/trade.
I'm not giving up my templates. ..I'm glad I found this video.
Thank you.
Also, these are great. I've recently gotten interested in smocking and all
the online guides I've looked at are good but I've always preferred to see
a demo of a technique before giving it ago myself. Looks like my dad might
finally get those cushions he wanted me to do :D
This is totally new to me and I found this video difficult to understand. A
little more explanation would help. For me, the music was very distracting.
Would love to learn this technique. Thanks!
I'm sorry if this video didn't help you much, I will try my best to upload
a quick step by step video on this, a little more clear so that you can
understand this, and learn this technique.
I'll redo it. It isn't a fixed size, in the video, the little squares that
are for the flowers, was about 2cm by 2cm, and the larger squares were
about 6cm by 6 cm .
Really excellent video!! You make it seem do-able, which is really
something because I've always been SO scared to try smocking. Thanks so
very much. :)
