+maxximuss I mean animals that we usually find in the cities, domestic animals or that are consumed as meat. But thank you for information. I didn't know that the monkey is also a host.
The Enduring Voices Project travels to some of the most remote parts of the world to study Earth's many endangered languages. See them in action in this video ...
Maybe it's not the best way to preserve languages from extinction but
better late than never. @nicelogin2: maybe you don't know the numerousness
of languages in the world. There is some small area with tens of different
languages, some of them even doesn't have the writing, vocal only. And it
is worse when some languages have not more than 10 people can speak their
own tribe language (the rest speak other languages due to cultural mixture)
[sorry for my bad English]
Great job!! Some 7000 languages are spoken around the world today. Studies
show that one language disappears every two weeks. Language is not simply a
set of words that are used for people to communicate. A language is the
full expression of a group’s social identity. It is the vehicle by which
human beings express their thoughts, myths and values. When an ancient
tongue disappears, elders carry to their grave part of humanity’s culture
and knowledge. Ethnonomad
The United States has one official language. Therefore only English is
taught in schools and as a result, traditional languages across the country
are lost. Even the cajuns who traditionally spoke french have lost their
identity. A similar situation can be found in Mexico where only Spanish is
the official language and is only taught in schools. The Aztecs and Mayans
which make up most of the population are losing their identity as theyre
languages are forgotten.
Let's face it -- English is a crazy language. There is no egg in eggplant
nor ham in hamburger; neither apple nor pine in pineapple. English muffins
weren't invented in England or French fries in France Sweetmeats are
candies while sweetbreads, which aren't sweet, are meat. boxing rings are
square and a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig.
"Trying to bring awareness to this whole issue of language loss.", how is
this an issue? The reason a language dies off is because it's no longer
used. It sounds like an interesting thing to do, but there are far worse
things than a language not being known anymore, actually that's not
important at all, how does it help society?
no...the govt of china wants to unite the country more by making sure
schools teach mandrin THE Official langauge of china. the responsiblity of
teaching dialects and minority langauges is up to the PARENTS if they want
to pass it down. people can be bilingual u know just like United states,
every school teaches ENGLISH.
it is only hard when you are an adult, cos you can't pick up the subtle
sounds. There is this idea that irish dialects aren't "pretty" and sound too
"country" I grew up speaking 4 languages, my parents have different
backgrounds.I found it important then there are things that just don't
exist in other languages.
you're an idiot. Language is nothing. If it dies out it needs to die out
because it is slowing people's understanding of more important languages.
The why would a kid learn an indigenous language when they could learn
something that is spoken all over the world. Go eat a fetus you gun toting

The language that provides the most benefit will survive. A language that
will get you the most money, that will care for your family and to provide
the most comfort in your life will survive. Those languages that don't will
soon fade. Unfortunately, that is the reality of language survival.
Just keep on chipping away at those Swedes and Germans. I study Finnish,
and Finns are some of the best English-speakers in the world, and yet I
still force them to speak Finnish with me and have many Finnish friends.
Best of luck on your language endeavors, my friend. :)
Globalization merely speeds this process of a loss of language. In Canada
there was terrorism in Quebec by the Fronte de liberation du Quebec simply
because they felt that french was underrepresented in Canada. That is why
we are now a bilingual country.
