E46 Idler pulley noise

Odd noise that i have been getting even after i changed both serpentine belts.

WJ idler pulley cold start

Showing the noise the idler pulley makes for a couple seconds after being cold started after a rain storm.

This is a relatively cheap fix... $7+shipping from rockauto or $20 in a store and takes 20 minutes of wrenching. Worst that happens is it seizes and the belt slips. So long as you're not deaf you'll notice the horrible noise and be able to shut the engine off before it breaks the belt. If it breaks the belt its another $30 and you'll DEFINITELY notice because you'll lose power steering and battery charging. At that point the Jeep needs to be turned off ASAP because your water pump isnt running.

im at 138,895 but i'll live with that noise for a bit because im putting 850$ in to the rear end :) i'll post a video and send it to you of my rear end noise it is so annoying

Eh.... I'm around 116k miles... its about time for an idler pulley to be replaced on most any car by this time.
