2" Receiver Winch Mount
Just a quick video showing how I decided to mount my Winch on my Jeep Comanche , Using a 2 inch Receiver, I can now remove it and use it in the Rear of the ...
I would definately not try to pull the vehicles weight with those little
d-rings you've bolted on the bumper. I think those are rated barely past
1000 lbs.
Also if you get your truck stuck in mud or deep snow, it doesn't matter if
it only weighs 1500 lbs or 7500 lbs. The force required to pull it out of
that stuff is going to surpass 3500 lbs in a hurry! I've seen cables rated
at 13,500 lbs snap while pulling out a 3000 lb vehicle!
Thats why its best to use things rated much higher than what you need unless you already know it will hold up, like a hi lift jack, not as well rated as some others but I have never had mine brake even past its rated working load. But for straps and chains, cables, I want stuff made to pull something twice the size of my jeep.
Thank you sir for your wise comment and you are absolutely correct. No Argument at all...I knew some guys would jump on me for that... but First off, let me say, I have No Intention of pulling anything near 3500lbs, that would be NUTS......and .I don't do much serious off roading either...I use the winch mostly for pulling logs up out of the woods on my property. However, as I mentioned in the video I did put solid Steel Backer Plates behind the thin Bumper to help out a bit. For My use, this set-up works well.
