Homemade heated parts washer

My own way of cleaning greasy parts. Welded a boiler heater element, then installed a water agitator. Used wiper motor and battery charger.

Is your basket out of aluminum? Do get hydrogen from the corrosion of sodium hydroxide with the aluminum? Have any of your regular iron or steel parts corroded because of the prolonged exposure in the hot lye bath? Is your temp readings 165.X F degrees or is your bath really getting hotter? Your response is appreciated.

That is pretty cool homemade parts washer. Nice. What is the tank made out of and is it the heating element that makes the tank get so hot or is it a reaction from the lye you added to the water. Or a little bit of both. Anyway nice parts washer I think I might have to build one of those now.

Ok first pull the 2 or 3 hinge pins and put the door on a couple of sawhorses. The rubberized gloves not good for using a heat gun. Try leather. Next do in a well ventilated area and or wear a respirator style mask (fumes). Then take that narrowing adapter nozzle off the end of the gun for more even heat. Then starting at one end go and do a continuous strip going with the wood grain.Using a 2 1/2 inch wide flexible putty knife works best. Keep the scraper clean as the buildup of paint etc. will keep it from doing a clean job. If done right it will go Quicker than this vidieo shows.
