I have a question. This is a great and impressive job, but i can only assume
it works from sunlight? So meaning u can only get warm air from it when the
sun is warming it up.So you cant use it to keep you warm when its cold, you
can only use it when its warm outside?Kinda defeats the purpose.
+God of Thunder yeah true. Like that oven with the lid that is theoretically a box. they added some heat reflection sheets and painted it black. apparently cooks a whole chicken in a few hours using similar system.
Doesn't have to be cans, other videos show people using flat sheets of metal, netting, and down (drain) pipes. As long as they are painted in matt black they will radiate the heat.
Ahh okay, so if it's any daylight it works I see now. I assumed it would need warmth from the sun to amplify that heat further. I did not realize it can amplify just plain uv with something like -10 temperature.
If "warm" is 10 below outside then everything helps. I wouldn't install one of these in Florida, but Alaska and Saskatchewan should have them everywhere.
+HAMMERSAW Hamilton "sink" heat in a material like stone. Some houses use a stone wall about 3' high. It will retain heat for long periods of time and slowly release it.
+TheJezrock Turbulent air/fluid has a bigger surface area. Slow flowing air/fluid is a very good insulator (double layered glass). so even one or two molecules of thickness can cause a very big resistance in heat flow. You can solve this problem by increasing flow, or increasing turbulance (rough surface). Hope this makes any sense ;)
+kamelkisseraha!... That makes more sense ~ and a very good idea it is.....and could be adapted for hot water, I think ~ perhaps depending on suitable positioning.I've always been a great fan of recycling and innovation (built several complete houses using that approach (all 'legal') and really do take pleasure in seeing that sort of attitude and motivation hasn't died out in our world of pre-fab and bolt-on.All the best to y'all.
I don't know where he got his but we got ours at Home Depot. I've also seen them online.
